It's funny that you wrote that KingKool as that was the first thing that popped into my head.    "Waxing it down in a little white box I can sell Uptown. By myself I wouldn't have no Boss, but I'd be raising my lonely dental floss". Good to read there are still Zappa fans out there.

KingKool, go to You Tube and enter Zappa/bicycle. I remember seeing this when it first aired on the Steve Allen show in 1963. I was a bit young, but thought "Who is this guy" and recognized his genius back then, despite the weirdness. There aren't any Zappa tribute bands and my guess is because nobody can play his music except his son Dweezil and previous band members. I wouldn't think that it's because of a lack of popularity. He always said he was a self taught musician, but my belief is that he was a Berklee School of Music graduate as he utilized very unusual, uncommon weird time signatures that one just plain doesn't hear. It would be extremely doubtful that anybody would come up with them on their own. If you don't know Berklee [THE premier music school], it's akin to Harvard for Law. In total, he had released 94 albums, 62 by him directly and 32 by his family after he went on to the next plane of existence. 62 releases by him directly is impressive enough. Frank is missed by many. As you wrote KingKool, truly a genius.

Skip - sorry about highjacking this thread!
The Montana Raffle/Trip really is pretty cool.

Fish 5000 - Only Zappa could pull that off. I wasn't around in'63 (born in '67) but got turned on to Zappa in the 70's. Somebody had spray painted "Zappa for President" on a local railroad underpass near my home and thanks to my oldest brother, I was "enlightened" to what that meant. Been a fan ever since.........

I'll end my "highjack" with a little Zappa video for those not in the know...........

Thanks KingKool. Always good to see Frank perform. One of the best things I liked about him live was that he had such a great rapport with the audience, talking to them in an intimate way. I apologize also Skip as this thread deviated a bit from your original intent, but in defense it was tied to it by a song. It's funny how "baggage" can spill out, one thing reminds one about something else different than the original intended meaning. Thanks Skip and Mikastorm for the link. That's going to be a dream trip for two people!
