Forums upgrade Thursday, September 5, 2013
On Thursday morning, September 5, we will deploy an upgraded version of the software that runs these forums. We expect the forums to be inaccessible for several hours on Thursday morning as we make the transition. The new software will modernize the forums, provide additional functionality, and resolve some usability issues that exist with the current version. User accounts will be preserved, and your login information will remain the same. All the existing posts will be preserved. We are preserving the look of the forums to the extent possible. Thank you for using the FishUSA.com forums.

Good news, thanks for the heads up. Hopefully we'll get some highlight + one-click quote functionality.

Please do not go with the light blue border and background color again. That was way too harsh on the eyes. take 2 Excedrin and try again later. Its easy to follow now dont fix it if it aint broked .....just sayin'

If it can stop the spamming, I'm fine with a new look.

Most people don't like change and I'm one of them. I'm sure it will be OK after getting used to it, but I have never liked it every time it changes until that point is reached. It took me awhile to find the login bar which already started to irritate me. Initial response, it's not easier and doesn't matter because what's done is done. I once was paid to sit in on a tasting of Ice Beer. We each had 2 bottles. Hey, it was free beer and we were being paid, not too shabby! The overall consensus was it would be a beer for Yuppies and would never sell in the Pgh market. Ice beer ended up not doing too bad. The tech behind it did make for a good tasting beer and I don't remember why many thought it would be popular with Yuppies, sorry. Everyone has their opinion and that's OK.

I don't care for it but maybe it just something that needs getting used to. It reminds me of Windows 98.

It's more aesthetically pleasing, but it will take some getting used to. Still functionally annoying without 1-click quote tag insertion, but overall, it's okay.

Logged on this morning before the change to see the before and after. Logged on now to see the changes. I guess its like everything else. " Gonna take time to get used to " Ive always had a problem with the initial navigation of a new site and after time I get it. Once again this is going to take time and Ill give my final responses after a few weeks time going through the site. For now I dont think it will be too bad. Its just a few extra seconds to find out where things went on the page.

NOT really a fan of the new format. But then I'm old and resistant to change. I still fish with bamboo rods. LOL Guess it will take some getting used to. Heck I couldn't even figure out how to log in.

IMO, the new layout needs some more color contrast. Maybe it's just me, but it is tough on my eyes as it is now. Also, as I scroll down through the posts I get the Facebook, Twitter, Google, ect. bar showing up in the center of the page over the posts, which is quite annoying. Is this a problem on Fisherie's end, or is this occurring because this computer is still running Windows 7 and an older version of IE?

You are just getting old dude! Google chrome with Adblock plus and DoNotTrackMe extensions and you should get rid of those. At least, that is what I am running and I see none of that. Will take getting used to but I am sure it will work out in the end just like the last change.

I got a PM from the admin recommending to install Chrome as well (Thanks Admin!) However, the issues are on my work computer so I can't install it on here. I guess I will have to live with it when using this computer for the time being. Things did appear to be working fine on my home computer.

Also running Chrome + AdBlock. It doesn't get rid of the floating "share bar". Not sure if the aforementioned extension is what's eliminating it or not. Either way, it's not covering the site content. Annoying, yes, but if it covered the content, it'd be an issue. Maybe it's your resolution settings or something within IE.
