Walleye trolling / How long does it last?

I'm new to this form of fishing. Just got started and love it.
How long into the fall does it usually stay good for trolling?

We trolled up eyes til Christmas last year. However, this fantastic walleye fishing in pa will come to end in a few weeks. We got our fish last winter in the western basin.
Once the temps start dropping, the days get shorter, and the northern fall winds start to blow the eyes in pa say "bye bye". There still may be a few residents near shore but, the large schools off shore will be gonzo.

Around Erie it'll be good until we get a strong NE wind that lasts a couple o days, they'll be gone.  Been that way for years

Last year we hammered them off conny long after the pa fishing died down. Very few boats were out too. The fish were in tight schools, but once you found a school you would limit pretty quickly. With how many fish were in the trench last weekend I am hoping it takes more than just one big blow to send them all west!

I was thinking about trying to get back up next sunday on the 15th and/or maybe on the 21st. Do you guys think it will still be worth the 3 hour ride and the 200 in gas. Would like to get into the PA walleyes one more time.

Well this north blow coming up is not looking good for pa eyes. If I was to guess those fish may be thinned out.

I see you've been keeping tabs on the action on OGF. Do you think that Northerner will scatter those fish at Connie too?

The fish leaving pa have to pass through conny. Typically the walleyes annual migration starts at this time of year. For the most part, the most eastern most fish go first. A good example is when you here of the waaaaayyyyyy west post around this time. Pa guys are chasing them to the line. As the fish begin to migrate west and the lake temps drop, the walleye will head south before an extreme western direction.
Conny will be affected too, but there will be fish in the conny/bula area alot longer than in PA.
In the next few weeks the run to the fish at conny and bula will be shorter. At the same time however, the schools will begin to thin out.

The bite is hit or miss this time of year too. The last month or so has been on fire due to all the good weather.
stable weather = good fishing on erie. Sept / Oct brings unstable weather.

Just for ****z and giggles we may try inside for some resident eyes this fall at the nut. I really never hear of anybody doing it but, its worth a shot.
