GREENLICK
Well the inbreds were at it again at Greenlick this week. Being disappointed that there was only room for one person at a time in the new Port-o-johns, they set fire to 2 of them this week. There is already talk from the county about closing the park from dusk to dawn for everyone including fishermen. Incidents like this from these COWARDS could make this happen. If anyone has any info PLEASE call either the State Police or the Mt. Pleasant police before these scumbags ruin it for everyone. This along with the brutal robbery at Bridgeport made this a very sad week for those of us that love that area. sam

Went by there this morning Sam scouting for geese. Saw the port-a-johns but didn't realize they were burnt. Water was high and a lot of trash on the ground from the crows and coons pulling all that household trash out of the dumpsters. Grass is deep enough to lose the grand kids in and actually keep the geese out of there. Geese prefer a well manicured lawn to feed. Too difficult for them to walk in the deep stuff. Looks like the carp were enjoying themselves with all the splashing going on.

Walt, I think you are right about the grass keeping the geese away, because I have seen very few geese there lately. Right at dark I hear them coming in,but doesn't sound like many compared to the past. Looks like the guy that does the mowing just made a pass around the shoreline where he could, instead of mowing the whole thing. Some state parks are doing the same thing to cut expenses. btw I just heard that the bridge at Bridgeport should be open by October. sam

Went by 4 days ago. What a dump!!! Those geniuses are going to ruin a good thing by being total morons !!! Maybe if they could have kept up with the grass and at least a small authority presence once in a while would have helped. My wife and I went out just to hang out and see if anyone was fishing and enjoy sitting and watching the sunset, which is always nice out that way. Well that didn't happen. Dope smokers and drug dealers stole the day. Called 911 waited 45 minutes nobody showed. By then the up standing citizens did their thing and flew off into the sunset. Afraid it's too late

That is the reason that I carry anytime I am out fishing. You never know when one of them is gonna get stupid. I did read that they were only gonna cut the grass right near the water at many of these local lakes.

Cops aren't going to show just for pot heads. They aren't that big of a problem. It would like driving out there to give someone a parking ticket. I'm pretty sure a cop would have to come from Uniontown, anyway. Since that's Fayette-nam. Someone is going to have to film people dumping trash or burning a porta john for anything to get done. Then the person filming the crime has to watch their back. As many states have decided it is now illegal to film a crime. It's easier to arrest a do-gooder than a criminal.

Well, one good thing about filming the crime is if done properly you can not get in any form of trouble. Any and all of these people who film officers, people, crimes etc with a phone or camcorder are treading on THIN ice by leaving sound on. Because technically you are breaking a FCC law by filming with sound without the consent of the individual you are filming. You generally can take and video record anyone without a single worry as long as you don't use sound. And, even creepier you can take a picture of just about ANYONE and ANYTHING in a PUBLIC place with no legal ramification, the only issue may be you aggravating someone by doing so and they have the right to ask you not to or to delete it. With that said, I hope that someone catches or stops these stupid perpetrators in the act because, I myself am tired of people ruining good things due to their sheer stupidity, immaturity, or lack of respect for every involved party.

I wasn't sure how that worked in PA. I read the other day that something like 9 states now consider any filming of any crime to be just as illegal as the crime being filmed. At any rate. You won't find me telling the cops anything. Though, it would be nice to see that place taken care of. I know it won't happen and it'll just be the good people punished, like always.

Flyingmoles, Your posts have me confused,in one post you say that you will not go there anymore as that is your solution to the trash pick-up,then in this post you claim that you won't tell the cops anything either? If you care that little about the lake why do you even bother to post? Conditions at Greenlick are about the same as a lot of other lakes that I go to in that area, such as Donegal,Acme & the backwater of Bridgeport. It is a sad commentary of our times. If anyone has info on any of these acts & they don't report it ,then in my opinion they are as bad as the perps. The thing that bothers me the most is that nowadays girls are becoming involved also. sam

I'm not sure what there is to be confused about. I never said I wouldn't say something to the fish commission. Which I did, to no avail. I do not trust or respect cops. I have my reasons. This is not the place to discuss them. Trust and respect are two things that always have to be earned, badge or no badge. Donegal, Bridgeport, and Acme are Westmoreland county parks and rec. and are patrolled by park police. They have nothing else to do but respond to the calls. I very rarely fish any of them anymore, so I have not seen the issues there recently. I can only assume that they are just as bad as everywhere else.

I am confused about how you can say in one post that you think that those guys that attacked Beanie should be caught, then in another post you say that you won't talk to the cops because you have reasons not to. As far as law enforcement needing to show that they deserve respect,in my opinion an law enforcement officer that pins on a badge to protect us automatically deserves respect unless he does something to negate that. You seem to paint all law enforcers as not worthy of your respect, which I am sure others see it differently. Also Donegal lake is not a westm'd Cnty Park. It is a PF&BC lake. Mt. Pleasant Police & the Penna. State Police along with the PA. fish Comm. have been asked to increase their presence at Greenlick, but they can't be there 24/7 sam

I don't understand what's so difficult about moles' posts. He thinks it's an unfortunate situation and he's had bad experience with LE which makes him disinclined to get involved with them any more than is absolutely necessary as a result. These two factors (combined with a lack of satisfaction from the PFBC) led him to the natural course of action of simply distancing himself from the whole affair. It's not a black and white world, and among the various shades of gray, this one's pretty easy to figure out. Also, Mags, could you please cite your source for the photography laws? While my opinions regarding the laws differs strongly from your own, some of the laws you're suggesting simply don't go along with the photography laws I've read about elsewhere, especially as far as the laws concerning reasonable expectation of privacy.

Well ,I do tend to look at things in black & white. I believe that in most cases, if you are not part of the solution, if you are able to be so, you are part of the problem. sam

I'm not sold on the idea that ALL who pin on a badge do so for the most honorable of reasons. I would wager that the majority do it for the authority or view it as a stepping stone job rather than because they want to protect the citizens. To assume that they consider the citizens as those they're supposed to serve may be a stretch. Other public employees decide their fate as it applies to promotions etc... I would like to believe that we the citizens are their first priority, but I honestly doubt that. The FEW times I ever needed one, they seemed quite annoyed to be dealing with me.

I agree that not all of them are noble ,just as not all priests,or Doctors or fishermen or hunters are trustworthy, but that doesn't mean that they are all bad either. If any of us had a crime committed against us or our family I think that we would like the public to help catch the perps if they could. sam

mr.crappie Well ,I do tend to look at things in black & white. I believe that in most cases, if you are not part of the solution, if you are able to be so, you are part of the problem. sam While I mean you no disrespect, surely you must realize that not everyone shares that world-view, and that some may even perceive the "if youre not with us youre against us" mentality as somewhat antagonistic.
