Site has been dead
This board has been dead lately. How has everyone been doing? Wanted to see if anyone wanted to share any recent experiences. I haven't been out in a while. It was too hot for a while. Now I have just been busy.

Dead indeed. I haven't done much fishing lately myself, but pan on checking out a few new to me spots today if it doesn't rain too much.

Haven't fished anywhere exciting lately, but even the farm pond bass and bluegills are pretty slow the past couple of weeks. I have always hated August. Slow fishing and just waiting for most hunting seasons to get here.

Been saving up the cash from not going a ton to spend on gas in the fall seeing as "Gas prices aren't to go up" :scoffs: But, the few times I went out we did well aside from Pymie being crap for my girlfriend and I. Heading to Shenango this coming Saturday and then Erie in the first week of September before I go full time Student in October and have to try to make it up for steel while balancing studies and a part time job ...

The Dead Sea has been living up to its name for me the past few times out. A lot of algae, not sure if that has anything to do with it? Work is starting to get busy and school and Fall leagues are starting, which means the Fall patterns are right around the corner.

I've been fishing a lot lately, about once a week in early mornings... On the river by sun up. I haven't been skunked yet. This last Saturday I got one striper, 4 white bass, 2 walleye, one sauger, and 2 catfish. The waters been cool enough to keep the eyes active.

I haven't been out at all in a while. I have been busy lately. I usually go to Donegal, Greenlick, Acme and Virgin Run. Never do well in any of the rivers. Last time out was in the Mon down in Elizabeth. Caught one small channel cat around 14-15 inches. Pretty much everyone got skunked that night. That same day did well at Virgin Run on bull gills. I am hoping to get out in a week or two. I would like to try a few new places. I have never been to Mammoth, both Keystones or Twin lakes.

My bro and i were fly fishing on the beav last week.. He caught a nice sized cat on a streamer! The water was high and muddy but we still managed a couple carp as well.

Been up to Pymy twice in the last 3 weeks. It was essentially a catfish fest as expected. Did manage a 29 inch rogue 'eye on 8/14. Probably will wait until after Labor Day when the water temps begins to come down. I hope others have some luck as I do enjoy reading about good outings.

Chaulk up another Dead Sea outing. Summer wiper season ends with two 15"-18"ers. Worst one that I have had since I've started to chase them. Should be a few more weeks left, but doubt that I'll make it out again for a while. Bring on the fall panfish and stillheads. Hopefully make a trip or two to catch emupere n'at.

I have a question for you guys. As I have stated before, I just started back into fishing the past few years. In years past, when late fall came, the fishing rods and tackle box went in the garage. I have never fished in the winter. What are some tips to catching fish in the winter. I do not or should say WILL NOT ice fish. If there is ice on the lakes, the rods stay in the garage. I know many of our recent winters have had a lot of open water. What are soke ways to target panfish, bass and catfish in the winter months?

I like wading the rivers for walleye in winter. Real bright sunny days can bring bass into the shallows of lakes in late winter (ice out). Otherwise if lakes aren't quite frozen allot of lakes (and a couple streams) get stocked with trout.

Erie stekheads can be caught through out the Winter and nowhere near the pressure as the Fall or Spring. Most local lakes, the panfish and bass will be in the shallows if no ice. Especially bright sunny unseasonably warm stretches that warm up the shallower water. October & November are usually very good for the rivers, and stretches into December if it stays warmer. I can't say that I do very well once the temps stay in the freezing range though. My gear usually sits from when the lakes start to freeze until I hear the ice is off, unless I can get a trip to the Erie tribs.
