new gear soon

Well its that time of the year when I buy more gear. I'm think a new spey rod. Or maybe just stick with a good noodle rod. Can anybody recommend me a good spey setup? Also what's your favorite fly line. My cheapo walmart cortland is wearing out lol.

I fish more than I work which is probably why I got fired.

    Why?

If you're a rod builder, then go for it & why ask?  If you're not & want to try & save $50, seems pointless.

What exactly is a spey rod? Is it the same thing as center pin?

I want something custom so I did some reading. I found a 5wt 3 piece 10ft fly rod. Found guides and a spinning rod grib and reel seat. Why not its only gonna be like $75

as is using a spey on any of Pa's waters...
    I say, go for it!!!!

wtf are you talking about?  Clueless as usual.

A spey rod can be used properly on many waters across the state.  As is solid advice across the site: don't pay attention to anything william h posts.  He thinks he knows things.

I'm thinking about making it 11'-12' long well its a 12' long blank so you figure 12-18" depending on handle right?

A rod that long could be used as a nymphing stick.  I've seen guys use a spey rod on erie tribs before.  The extra length keeps your line from sagging down on the water while nymphing.  Gotta just learn how to properly use your gear.
I have a 12'6 6 weight redington cpx spey rod I'd be willing to part with if you are interested.

Slabdaddy:  Go to youtube & type in "spey casting", you'll get a ton of videos that show what spey casting is.

You sure are interested in my personal life, aren't you?  Honestly, while it's flattering, I'm getting a bit concerned for your mental health.

Have I met you before?  You act like you know a lot about me, for someone who's never met me (to my knowledge), but then again, you act like you know a lot of things that you're completely clueless about.

Like the spey rod use in PA water.

    billy,

You were the one that assumed the tribs.

And for someone who likes to pick on others for reasons he invents himself....you sure do put a lot of effort into learning intimate details of my private life...just sayin'.  Maybe there's some repressed urges or something going on in your head...
