Last year, we stayed about a mile South of the causeway. I guess that is about mid lake. We were getting into some crappie right in front of the cottage that we stayed at. About 50 yards out, drop shotting gulp minnows over a point. There is a bit of a trench further out, probably 1/3 out from PA side, that guys were getting jumbo perch on crawlers. They weren't interested in the gulps, and by the time we got crawlers, we had a storm roll in and kept us off of the lake. This was last year about this time, and lake was very low. We had to launch on Ohio side every time out, and a pain in the butt. Didn't hear of any eyes being caught then, but sure some in the know we're getting them. I think the crappie we were getting in 10 fow, at the point, surrounded by about 15 fow. Hope this helps.

@spechunter - you don't need to fish south of the causeway to catch fish!  That is a general misnomer at this time of year!  Especially with all the rain and cool weather we have had.  Leadcore is not a necessity either, but to each his own.  I have fished 8' - 12' of water since spring, and have had NO PROBLEM picking up walleyes on a regular basis.  Berkley Flicker Shads, Lindy Shadlings have been HOT for me!

Glad to hear you say that. I don't fish there much but I thought it odd that there would not be a year round population of eyes in the northern part.

Don't believe Coldfront!  There are NO walleyes on the North end.  Mostly carp and an occasional snakefish.  Haven't been any walleyes  up there in ages!!!

Seriously, you can't go wrong listening to Coldfront.  He knows the South end like I know the North end.  Between the two of us I would wager we have a century of experience!  lol  It's all a matter of preference and comfort zone.  Something about those stumps just keeps calling me back...
