Bay dead grass and slime

I fished the Presque Isle Bay Thursday 7/18/13. The water was muddy and the grass was dead and covered with slime,needless to say the fishing sucked. Does anybody know whats wrong,the grass should be nice and green and the water clear.Did they spray the grass ?

    That doesnt sound good. I havent fished the bay in 6-7 weeks. Could be a number of different factors contributing to the problem your describing but I wouldnt know where to begin. High water temps , bacteria , over crowding weed growth, the big shad die off this spring, spraying of the weeds , high boat traffic , agricultural run off from the heavy rains this year.....well I guess I began there.

    They are working to eradicate non native species of plants on PI. { Insert steelhead joke here }
     
    But that is only on the land as far as I know.
