Cranberry Glade

Has anyone been to Cranberry Glade Lake in Somerset lately? I was just wondering what the conditions were like. I would like to take my kayak up and fish for a day but I don't want to make the drive up there if conditions are bad for some reason. I think it gets pretty choked with weeds in the summer but I wasn't sure if it had gotten there yet.

Weeds are thick enough to walk across.

That is a bummer. I loved fishing that lake growing up. Haven't fished it in over 15 years probably.

I used to really like it too. Now, it's in need of some help. I was there a few weeks ago and there were only a few spots you could fish. You could probably get a boat on it. As long as it didn't have a motor. Most, if not all, the big pike are gone. Most seem to be around 24". That was one of two reasons for me to go there. I guess people are still fishing it for the bass, but I just don't see the point.

I stopped Sunday evening and threw a frog up at the dam for about 30min and not even a look... I use to see a lot of people there now its only a few people. I thing some of the bigger fish are there still but not as plentyful... Use to be nothing to pull out a 4lb class large Louth and for the longest time I use to think the next state record would come from there... I think the PFBC should draw it down some and dredge the edges if possible but its a very silty bottom...

I was thinking about taking my kayak up so getting away from shore wouldn't be an issue. Is the weed cover over the entire lake? It is a shame that the lake has gotten to this point.

You'd be able to fish from a kayak. Last time I was there, there was still open water. It was out in the middle and down towards the standing timber. It's just the easily accessible places to bank fish that are all clogged.
