where is everybody?

Seems like there are more people posting than actualy fishing. I went to Donegal,Acme, & Greenlick throwing plugs this evening. There were not a doz. people on all 3 lakes. I did manage a few bass at each,no monsters or numbers & it was hot as hale when I first got there, but as I tell my buds you are not going to catch any sitting on the couch watching re-runs of "Honey Boo Boo"  sam

That's why I'm not out more.  The melt-to-fish ratio is all wrong.  Might hit the yak this weekend, but I have little desire to spend any more time out in 85+ than absolutely necessary.

Have fished quite a bit the past month.

On the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in mid June for 7 days - couple of good days, then the southeast wind started blowing.  Did make it out on a charter though and caught some incredible bull reds and blacktip sharks.

In Corolla, NC on the Outer Banks last week.  Never have done real well in the Atlantic surf, but last week sucked big time.  Water temps dropped from mid 70's two weeks ago to low 60's last week.  Everybody I talked to - from other fishermen to bait shops - said it was horrible.  Didn't even have a bite.

Been trying to figure out how to catch wipers at Arthur in between, and even fooled a few dumb ones a few weeks ago one night.

I like your avatar. Do you use one of those lights? I do. I've had fish like that under my boat, except they weren't snook. They were crappie! Many, many times. I've seen the same thing with walleye too.

Go night fishing. I love it. Nice and cool and no jet skis and very few other boats. You aren't exclusively a fly fisherman are you? Do people fly fish at night? Anchor your yak out in the water, hang a light over the side, and do some jigging. It'll be nice to get out and you might get some slabs.

Night time is the BEST time for Crappies and Crappiefishers ! I have a Crappie honeyhole I need to visit. A lot of my to-do list is done and I'm WAY behind on my fishing.

I love night fishing for crappie. I've caught more at night than at any other time. If you use the underwater light, you don't get as many bugs. If you use a lantern, you sometimes get bombarded by bugs. I'm itchin' to get out night fishing. Haven't been out in a while.

That pic was taken at adock at a restaurant in FL recently. Those are all 2-3" minnows. Every 5 minutes or so something big, Snook most likely, would come flying through and scatter the school. Neat to watch.

You only fly fish? Nothing wrong with that, just wondering. I would think fly fishing would be difficult from a kayak. Of course, fly fishing would be difficult to me in the best of conditions! Looks like it will be a nice weekend Cold. Maybe you'll get out then. If you do, good luck.

Some guys do night fly fish, but it's more for places where the big boys come out at night, and I'm not really close to any water where that holds especially true (you might be more likely to get a big one at night, but not drastically more likely than during the day).  I don't fish anywhere (regularly) that has any jet ski traffic at all, and most of the boats I encounter are small manual-power canoes, kayaks, & rowboats.

Pretty much 98% fly, with the other 2% being stuff like the saltwater fishing I did from my kayak over memorial day weekend this year, though around here, even in the yak I fly fish.

No desire to yak at night either...no, I'm content to take mother nature's hint and not mess with the dog days.

Hope to get out in the yak again this weekend, though, since they're predicting more tolerable temps!
