Does this bother anyone else?
Maybe I’m just being picky here, but it’s really bothersome to me that you can’t find fishing tackle that is actually made in the USA. My hat is off to Cisco and Big Jon since they are the only ones I’ve found to be truly made in the USA. I’m sure there may be others that I missed out on, but that’s just what my initial research has revealed. Maybe you guys can point out others that I neglected to mention. Rapala, Lindy, Reef Runners, etc., etc, - made or assembled in places like Malaysia and other overseas countries. Eagle Claw…made in USA with imported components I think it’s really sad that good quality fishing gear is not made here. Is there no market? Is it really to costly to justify manufacturing fishing gear here in the states? I understand the average fisherman doesn’t care where his gear was made as long as it catches some fish. I generally try to direct my own purchases toward smaller companies that are trying to grow and expand in a very tough and diverse market. But honestly, it’s nearly impossible to do so with fishing gear. So what are everybody else’s thoughts? Please keep this thread civil and on topic… Thanks, Steve

Who knows what the deal is on Reef Runners...are they made in USA or not? Or have they just recently started assembling lures in another country? I see some packaging clearly states "Made in USA"; however, I was checking them out at a local shop and I distinctly recall seeing the package marked "Assembled in (insert foreign country here)". I was very disappointed to see that since I was really planning to purchase a bunch of their lures to stock my box. If they are indeed still made in the USA then my apologies to Reef Runners. Their website does not currently indicate that they are MADE in the US though...only "designed and tested". Thanks for the input ColdFront...I guess it's all about making the big bucks for the big shots while dismissing the everyday working man. Anybody else know of ANY fishing industry companies still 100% made in the US?

The chances of stuff 100% being made in the USA is slim to none... Even lures that are formed/molded/widdled in the USA use hooks that the steel is Chinese or another major import country. If something was 100% made in the USA it would be out of this world in $$$ Even these places that say "made in the USA" use hooks, terminal tackle made in China, Japan, Russia, Malaysia. The term "made in the USA" is so vague because 99% of things made in this country have a part or paint or something made some where else making it not truly 100% MiUSA...

The surcharges were erroneous, a company spokesperson told the World-Herald News Service on Jan. 9. He blamed the error on "a glitch in the system" and said all customers subjected to the charge would receive a full refund.

Nobody cares what bothers you.
2 words for ya dude - BITE ME! So I picked up a couple reef runners from Gander... the Little Rippers don't actually say where they are made on the packaging. However, the Ripsticks are clearly tagged "Assembled in Mexico" and look like crap when compared to the Little Rippers. I'm guessing some are made in the states and others are made elsewhere depending on model. Pretty disappointing... Steve

Um...if you clicked the links in my post, it would have been fairly obvious that that was directed to our resident mouth-breather, Billy H and the urban legend/chain email crap he vomited out in the post just above the one you quoted. Even the knuckle-dragger himself understood that. I clearly meant you no insult. That being said, now that you've showed your level of reading comprehension, intellect, and willingness to lash out randomly without putting the least bit of effort into informing yourself before you go off... ...nobody cares what bothers you either.

Had read an article about guns made in America. Said more an more guns an knives being manufactured here due to the increased pay structures in China an shipping cost increasing. Said by 2015-2016 the costs will out weigh or at least break even the cost of manufacturing here. Something along them lines. Maybe the outdoor industry in general might see a shift? I hope so

It's greed and the fact that most people don't care about anything anymore. It's made over seas and sold here still at higher prices and the company rakes in the dough, because we will pay whatever they charge and because most people have more money than sense.
