porktown, I was waiting til after the comm. election so that I could present Comm. Ward with a petition also, but since Comm. Balya & Ceraso made it clear that they have no intentions of working with her even if it is for the public good I am not sure that it is worth my time to do so. btw can anyone explain to me why we even have three Comm. if it is going to be politics as usual? Your idea may be a good way to go,but I recently contacted 2 other news papers & was told that there seemed to be too little public intrest to give us more ink.I jokingly replied that maybe if we had about 100 or so fishermen with vests & waders & rods & reels picketing in front of the court house before a Comm. meeting that that would get the media & comm. attention. They replyed that it might.

If Beaver run was opened to the public it would truly be ruined in less than 5 years.

So the residence of Westmoreland county are paying tax money to have county employees patrol a county property to make sure you don't fish, sounds normal to me! Glenn

The water authority NOT the county, patrols it. And the water authority NOT the county owns it.

I don't live near there, but if i did it would drive me crazy to know there are big fish that can't legally be caught. Although, the funny thing about places that you're not allowed to go is, the "myth" and "legend" factor plays a role. Are we sure that the claims of lots of huge trophy fish aren't a bit exaggerated because no one is allowed to fish it? The unknown leaves a lot of room for specualtion...

fisherofmen376--- The bridge on rt.286 that crosses beaver run was open to fishing for years until they closed it about five years ago. And believe me we caught some monster fish. We would throw 15" crappie back because you could catch a five gallon bucket full of 17" plus crappie.Theres huge fish of many species in there, but Mr. Kerr wants to keep it for him and his employees,i have'nt heard of any mass deaths from somerset county where there fishing in there reserviors, or is it that beaver runs water is that much better to drink, i don't think so........

Maga, its not worth it man trust me. I have been lucky enough the few times I did venture there to leave without a hefty fine, but its just stupid. I not innocent by any means, but I would not reccomend it.. Oh and to your advice, they have a patrol boat, quads, and on foot. They will sneak up on you and tap you on the shoulder (it happened to a friend) my advice is to just leave it alone.

I have heard differant amounts, but at least a couple hundred dollars if not much more. On top of quads, boats and on foot they also have a trail bike and trucks they drive around. I have also heard they will spot you from a small plane and then radio it in to ground patrol. the way that most roads are around the lake too make it tough to get away when they come you are usually pinned between the road and water. They are always around too so luck be with you.

Quads, boats, aircraft, sounds like there might be more than just water, and fish there.

i cant see any good reason not to open this place up to fishing. they should just allow fishing during daylight hours and not allow any boats on the water.

sounds like a top secret federal gig they have there. They probably won't open it because they're hiding something... maybe it's bigfoot

went there about four years ago on the western side of the of the bridge, and walked south to the first big bay, caught some fish. We got spotted and while we were fleeing the White pickup trucks and collered shirt workers, we spotted about 100 plus Pot Plants that were growing back there. Must have been worth a fortune. So now i dont go back there anymore, you dont get a fine for that stuff, you get shot at instead. Not that i got shot at but they were closing in on us, and we had to do some creative hiding to not be spotted.
