Stabbed in the neck by catfish!

Aiden Menchaca, from Maumelle in Arkansas, had been on a family fishing trip for Father's Day when a catfish his mother Melissa was holding jumped in her hands — and the sharp spine on its fin became embedded in his neck.

Man, that's a little scary!

Many of you have probably seen the various film clips of guys ocean fishing and a billfish pierced a guy's chest and was thrashing wildly. Ouch!

I once saw a guy drop a channel cat. It landed upside down on his foot.  He was wearing sandals. The spine in the dorsal fin went in at least an inch and a half. I'll never forget it.

Fishink, that sounds like something that would happen to me. Strange ways of injuring ones self seem to find me.

Had a spine an inch and a half deep removed from the side of my hand from a 12" channel cat a few years ago. I have handled thousands and this was the first. An amazing number of barbs on both sides of those things. I was the hit of a slow saturday morning at the hospital, that day. Even the parking lot guys came to watch the surgery. On the big ones, the barbs on the spines are wore down so they will stick you deep but you can pull the fish off....WF....The Queen took a shot to her hand 2 years ago from a 6 lber and the barb pulled out with not too much effort.

Ouch! I once had a nearly 2 inch thorn jammed into the side of my hand while coiling rope in the woods. This was...1999. I STILL get paranoid while I coil rope, even when I coil an outdoor extension cord!

I think if a big cat got me I'd be paranoid for life, lol!
