Starting to get the itch again, now that I have my hunting license...needs the feds to post their dates so I can figure out vacation time...have a pre-season shopping list (marsh seat, blind bag, binoculars for sure...maybe 1/2 dz. woodies).  Been practicing a bit on the calls too.

Most of all, I've been looking over google maps to find new places to check out!

Season dates usually don't get approved by PGC till the next to last week of August.

Later goose season splits in the RP zone have changed a bit in the past few years, from year to year, but you can probably count on the early season starting Sept. 1.  For ducks you can pretty much count on the same seasons in the south zone as last year I'd imagine.  A week in mid-October and then the second split usually starts right on, or very close to, November 15 even when it's a mid-week start.  Some talk of changing NW zone dates this year though if you're heading up that way.

That might warp wood...but for Poly & Acrylic, he'd probably be able to get new reeds & cork and they'd probably be good to go...I know 2 of my calls spent all year in my car, and they're just fine...

take blaze's advice.  Private property, posted signs and explicit permission is meaningless to greedy, desperate competitive water fowlers.

Your right alot of people that deny you permisson are because greedy people fights breaking out its just pointless...any more alot of people can take off durning week and screw up the weekend hunters but its part of the game. I'm starting see birds feeding now getting close...

Ain't been seeing much vis-a-vis geese.

One day maybe two and a half weeks ago there was maybe 2-300 in a field.  Never saw that group before or since.

Looking forward to chilly mornings, nuts deep in water, muck, and weeds.

Welp, the three things I absolutely wanted/needed for the 2013-14 season are now here: a small blind bag, a marsh seat, and waders.

This is the first time I'll be getting in the water wearing new (hopefully) non-leaking waders in probably 4 years.  Looking forward to it!

I got a pair of LaCrosse Brush Tuff II neos...most reviews seemed to be positive and after a quick test fit, they should work.  Maybe a bit short in the inseam and long in the chest, but the boot seems good, the fleece lining is nice, and the shell holder/handwarmer pocket will probably be a welcome addition.

Now I just need to count down until it's actually cold enough to wear them!

Just watched a pick-up and a stake-bed truck, both bearing the 'keystone symbol', rolling slowly past the house.  Must be getting close to the annual fox, coyote and, hawk feeding extravaganza!

I shall eagerly await my first sightings of the infamous Pennsylvania 'Ditch Chickens'.

PS.  I must admit, they are better tasting than stocked trout and, no garlic needed to kill the taste!!!
