You hooked up with a stripper? How much did that cost? I hope you wore protection!jk

I love night fishing. I used to catch a lot of catfish at night, but I don't target them any more. I fish at night for crappie. An underwater light is a MUST for big numbers of night time crappie.

SLAB: do you use a regular lite, or one of those new greenish ones they were talking about for icefishing at nite?

wirenut, I have an underwater light that has 192 green LED bulbs on it. It's freakin' bright! The company that makes mine doesn't exist anymore (too bad cause they were very reasonably priced and high quality) but you can buy other ones. If I don't have my light, I go home. I've had 300+ fish nights with that thing. It lights up a 30' diameter circle under the boat. I've had a giant, swirling vortex of bait under my boat. Then crappie will come in and it gets fun really quickly. The fun usually stops when I get tired of catching them or when the muskies come. I'm getting sick of giant muskies grabbing 14" crappie off of my line. Since I've never caught a big muskie before, this summer I'm going to take a big rod with me and catch one. Shouldn't be difficult. Every time I throw my light out, multiple muskies come in.

I don't fish the Allegheny much. I called in a big school of walleye at Lock 9 with my light last summer or the the summer before. Had about 200 of them underneath me. Their eyes were shining like a field full of deer. A big gar came in that night too. I hooked him, but lost him. I don't think it really matters where you go with that light. If there are crappie there, you'll call them in. If there are muskies around, they'll find you.
