Perching?
Heading up Saturday with my younger brother his friend and my 7 year old. My brother and his friend are college kids that help me out from time to time. Hoping to show them a good time. Can anybody help with some info. I don't need GPS numbers just whether I should head straight turn right or left when I come out of the nut and what depth I should look for. Thanks for the help

Eye, can't help you with walnut, haven't seen many reports as to what's going on at that end of town. I can tell you though we're creamin the perch out of East Ave/Lampe. Just get to the cribs, anywhere from 38 to 42 feet of water. Take plenty of minnies cause there seems to be an abundance of junk fish in with the jumbo perch. Was there 2 nights ago and we did well. Saw a few eyes at the dock too, so some guys must be getting into them a bit on the east side. Saw one report tho about headin west out of Walnut, 25-35 foot of water for eyes. Have no idea how the perchins been out of there. Good luck.

There should be a pack of boats off the point or off trout run/walnut - drop down in the pack, or use your graph and motor around a while until you find a decent school. I will be out Saturday looking for eyes...

Haven't been out, but this time of year I would head straight out to 35-45 fow and rely on the sonar, when you find decent marks stop and fish. The pack may tell you something, but it's not always where the fish are... We were out a day last year and couldn't find any good marks and had a couple of new guys with us so we just stopped and anchored up. Within 10 minutes we had 6 boats around us... lol

To Add to Bulldog... It happened to me at the cribs. I was a guest on a friends boat. The captain wanted to pitch anchor as soon as we were into the pack. I didn't want to bully him into looking around. But after a hour later of nothing, I convinced him to pick up and start looking on the finder. We tried that, and as soon as we hit marks, He drove the estimated rope length(3:1) into the waves and set up. Immediate catching after that.

I like the eastside better. But I can usually do good on either side. Sometimes the boats are there ( the pack ) because the boats are there. BH

Well didn't get to go kind of a last minute decision. Motor was running kinda weird yesterday so I am going to take it and have it tuned up. Didn't want it to go down and be stuck especially with my 7 year old on the boat. Plenty of fishing season left no need to take risks

How far are you from Erie? I would suggest putting your boat in somewhere close to home and running it for a day or two so you can shake out any problems. If you don't have a BoatUS membership, get one... We had to search, but we found 4 tickets of perch and they were all good sized with lots of jumbos. Not a boat in sight most of the day...

Exactly, you get Lakeshore Towing on the water and they have Trailer Assist for issues while towing, I think the cost is around $80 a year. Wouldn't leave the dock without it. Every year you hear someone asking for a tow on the radio and while I have done it 3 or 4 times I don't like to do it. Towing is hard on a boat and if you call for a tow without the membership it'll cost you several hundred dollars. Lakeshore also sells towing memberships but I trailer my boat 100 miles each way so I like having that protection too...

You never know what can happen out there on the lake. And for bulldogs case, on the road as well.

42 fow off shades beach. Put in at north east and backtrack, or just take the trip from the bay. If you have a little boat, you can launch at shades. Normally I would say not worth the extra gas, but out of a two man limit 26 were over 14" the rest were all over 10".
