A Late Cross Creek?

I have been (shore) fishing Cross Creek about twice a week since February for crappie with no results. The worst year ever.
In early May I had two good days bringing home five fish each day. (I keep only the fish I don't have to measure.)
Yesterday I found a good spot, caught a bunch but the majority were thin and skimpy looking. I had to measure them yesterday because I had a taste for a crappie dinner. I brought home about a dozen.
90% of them were carrying eggs. I was very disappointed. I know there are plenty that don't get caught but this late in the year? They didn't spawn yet?

    Black crappie spawn first then whites. 65+ is when they really start the action...as late as 70 degrees. With cold front that just passed that Probally delayed the fish you were catching...or they may not spawn all together, just absorb their eggs and continue on with normal summer action.

    I have seen a couple years like this one,  some years it is on fire and you can get a limit no problem, and then some you couldnt buy a bite with gold.  Did you try the 3rd cove on the right side if standing on the handicap pier.  there is a giant tree laid down in the water.  Usually i pick some up there even in the tough years, it is a good walk through the woods but a nice one
