/shrug. I lived in Lawrenceville for 3 years. My pad less than 10 mins from the Poplawski/police shooting, was robbed, chased, harassed, and woken at night by local bars being shot up. To this day, I still wouldn't think twice about walking in the city after dark. That's just me. In most cases, I can out run, out maneuver, or fight a disgruntled ne'er do gooder in an urban setting. I could not, however, out run, out maneuver, or fight a disgruntled mountain lion or bear. Even still, I don't carry all that often.
Since this thread, I have lived in a house in the woods. One night my girl and I were awoken by a growl in the woods coming from close to the neighbor who raises livestock. This was no bear, coyote, or coon. Those are the only potential candidates known in this area. Today, while at a customer's house a few miles away, I was told by a guy that his wife spotted a large cat in their yard stalking the animals the animals that live under their shed. That event was after another story he told of he and his son going to check the woods after dark for a strange growl that they had heard. Once in the woods, they had located the area where the growl had come from in a small valley off of his yard. After getting too close for comfort and not being able to see the animal, the guy had he and his son back off. He explained that he had served in the military and as a state police officer and that their isnt much he was afraid of. He went on to explain that he was was intimidated enough by the growl that he backed off and went inside.
I love this all this info. haha. It really made my day. Nothing's for sure, but it's all good info

We were staying at our cabin in the Pine Creek Valley 2 nights ago. We saw a mountain lion for sure! I am very familiar with the local wildlife as I have been going to this area my entire life. I also lived here for 5 years. The cat had a very long tail and short hair, certainly not a bobcat. It had a long body and I would estimate it to be about 60-70 lbs. (I'm not an expert with weight estimates) It came into our front yard 4 times that we saw on the same night. We viewed it from our picture window which is only about 3 feet off of the ground. It was definitely watching us....I tried to capture a photo through the window but it didn't turn out. My husband and myself could not believe our eyes. We are both avid outdoors people and spend a lot of time in the woods, we've never seen anything like this in Pa. And yes, we do know what Bobcats and housecats look like. This also was not a coyote, fox, etc. It was a cat! It was large! It moved in a slinky fashion. I feel blessed to have had this sighting, but now I'm reconsidering those primitive camping trips!

Why does everyone doubt everything? My cousins camp in Benezette there is a photo that was taken in Emporium of a Mountain Lion. My uncle has no reason to lie about where the picture was taken.

Nobody seems to ever have a reason to lie, yet truthfulness remains so uncommon. This is a comment in general not meant to antagonize, provoke, instigate or otherwise irritate anyone or any group.

I'm pretty sure the reason that people doubt the existence of mountain lions in PA is because there is not one shred of evidence to suggest that they are present here. These cats are not ghosts, they leave tracks and scat behind, they kill other animals, they will get hit by vehicles, and they are not immune to having their photo taken on a trail cam. With the highest hunter density of any state in the U.S. we would have legitimate evidence if there were big kitties here.
