temp drop?

Do you guys think this temp drop coming will affect the fishing on Friday?

Depends on where and what you are fishing for.

Josh, it's a cold front, it'll definitely affect the fish to some degree, but regardless you'll probably go! so just switch up techniques, slow it down, move a little deeper and try and slay em'.
 
Another point although the air temp cools dramatically it typically takes 12-48 hours for the water temps to be affected by the drop in temperature.  Good luck!

Is it the actual temperature change that creates the changes in fish bites or more so the pressure changes which fish can detect more readily?

 I was always told barometric pressure drops ...so does the bite,...barometric pressure rises...so does the bite

fishing for northerns in canada a few years back. we were'nt catching crap. guide told us later in the morning the pressure would come up as the wind changed and they'd start hitting. within an hour we were catching fish. also noticed that drastic temp changes did the same thing to steelhead this past winter.  20 degree drops in temps in a 24 hour period shut that bite right down for a day or 2 until the fish got reacclamated. so sudden changes in either temp or pressure will definitely affect the bite. haven't seen any reports from the Edward John since last monday the 20th, kinda tells me they didn't do much this past week either. decent warm up coming this week, bite should improve.
