Odd and not-so-great day yesterday

Hit Deer lakes early yesterday morning, wanted to bring back a few trout for the grill. Got a few smallmouth, but not a hint of trout. Moved to a spot in Harmarville that I usually find productive, not really expecting trout (though since its connected to Deer Creek I fogured it was a possibility) but just wanting to mix it up a bit.

Got the smallest catfish I've ever caught (Didnt measure, burt I'd say 5-6 inches), and I brought in a Bluegill....on a fathead. Id never even heard of that happening. He wasnt even a big one.

Left there, hooked up with some family at Twin Lakes. Again a few smallmouth, but no trout. Not a single one, and nobody around us was bringing any in either. Cousin brought in a few bluegill on waxworms.

Pretty unproductive day overall. Odd thing is, guy I talked to at Deer Lakes that morning said the previous day he landed at least 20 trout on orange powerbait. But nothing yesterday.

At least you beat the skunk! I've caught blue gills on minnows before, but they're usually big for gills. those were probably all largemouth in those lakes, just so u know.
