Boston bridge park?

Hey all, great site here. I'm glad to have found it, seems difficult to find much info on fishing around here! 
 
I'm wondering if anyone has fished that little park by the Boston Bridge near McKeesport. I went the other day and it's a great place to sit but I absolutely skunked fishing it. Couldnt see any structure there and the current was pretty quick. I'm looking for more spots near my house that are sort of kid-friendly so I can take my girls with me, and this one fits the bill. It's clean, safe, easy to walk around, even has a playground. 
 
Just wondering if anyone is willing to share what kind of fish they may have had luck with in there. Thanks!

    Carp, catfish, suckers, occasional rock bass and smallie.

    Appreciate it. Seeing no structure, I didnt get the sense that there were bass in it and it didnt really seem deep enough for cats, but that's great info. 
     
    Can anyone suggest another spot close by that would be appropriate for kids? Not looking for anyone's secret honey hole, mind you. Just somewhere accessible and safe where we might do a bit better.

    indian lake is relatively close by and probably a bit more kid friendly than the yough in general.  there are plenty of spots up and down the yough that have great fishing, but for the most part its not a kid friendly river.

    Thanks Accountant. Where IS Indian Lake? I'm looking on Google Earth and cant find anything that might be it. 
     
    Been scouting like crazy on Google Earth lately, and some spots that look promising are inaccessible when I get there, and Im sure Ive missed a ton of spots that are actually really good.

    indian lake park is not exactly great fishing.  its about the kind of fishing you would expect from a lake of that size.  but its a county park and kid friendly.  so there is certainly a trade off there.

    I haven't had much trouble catching fish at Indian Lake.  If you're taking the kids there's a paved bike/jogging track around the lake for the kids to use....there's also plenty of bluegill and smaller bass.
     
    For and adult there are decent sized carp and catfish, as well as trout.  The trout do get tougher to catch when the water gets real warm but you can catch them if you try some different things.
     
    Also to mention there's parking right next to the lake as well as actual bathrooms instead of port-a-johns.

    Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

    I went down with my 8 year old tonight just because I promised her we would go somewhere soon. Few people down there, nobody else seemed to be getting ANY action. I was using a soft plastic swimbait and got 2 nice hits, but didnt hook 'em.
     
    Dropped the kid off at home, went down to Duck Hollow. Stayed 15 minutes and got a BIG hit on the same swimbait, it was at least 18" whatever hit it but it got away too. Got dark and I had to come home.
     
    Moral of the story: Boston park isnt as empty as I thought, and the swimbaits WORK (Though in this case the angler wasnt skilled enough to do em justice).

    If you walk a good way past the Boston Park down river, There is some decent places to fish. Not kid friendly though since it is a little trek through the woods. The Yough changes all the time. Last year I was fishing it not far from the Boston Park. There was tree that had jammed up from floods. I was into the biggest Green sunfish that I had ever seen. I actually asked on here if they could have been some kind of hybrid. Went back down and the tree was gone and like you said, couldn't find any structure to hold fish. Indian is a good place for kids. Take their bike and they will have fun. Like someone said. Isn't the greatest fishing but any day fishing is a good day.
