Reel Cleaning

Any where around Washington county that will clean 2 of my reels? I was fishing down at the river and a big****boat went flying by, didn't notice the waves until it was to late, both reels are full of dirt and are locking up when I reel. My one reel I am not to worried about taking apart, cheap cabelas reel, if I mess it up oh well, the other is my brand new one day old Okuma Epixor Baitfeeder and I would prefer not to mess with that one. I emailed Tackle Unlimited, but I had a bad experience with them before, hoping it was just a fluke but I would prefer to try somewhere else in case it wasn't.

Or if someone on here is really good at cleaning reels and would like to guide me through it that would be fine, but definitely expect questions, I would prefer to ask 50 questions and have a working reel in the end.

For the baitrunner I do, but I don't know what to grease and oil and all that once I clean it, that is my main concern. I feel like I could take it apart and put it back together, just like a puzzle, but easier since you have the directions.

Did you try soaking them in water and mild soap (dish soap), then rinse after. Take spool off of spinning reel and can take handle off. Not sure how much you can take your bait caster apart. I do this every time that I use in salt water. It might get the dirt out, at least some of it.

Most spinning reels, you can access the bearings where the handle is. You can pop the bearings out, wash and grease. Check out YouTube. Although, it sounds like you might have some in the gears, which would likely mean taking apart and cleaning. I'm sure web surfing for an hour or two will find you the manuals.
