Looking for some Info....

Myself and 2 of my brother-in-laws will be heading to the Wilkes-barre next weekend for the state bowling tournament and we are going to have a little free time so we are thinking of taking some fishing gear and doing a little creek fishing. Can anybody give me some places or place we could go to fish for a couple of hours and maybe catch a few trout? And some bait shops in the area would be nice also.

Any information would be great...
Thanks...

The Susquehanna flows right through Wilkes-Barre. Pretty good fishing and lots of river access, but no trout.

Harveys Creek is a decent stocked trout stream in Moon Lake Park. And there is a lot of wild trout fishing in Nescopeck State Park and Lackawanna State Forrest.

Wilkes-Barre isn't in Southwest PA, so you might not get as much attention to this question as you'd like by posting here. You can fish the Susquehanna anywhere you can get access. There's lots of access in the city, plenty of parks, etc. It's a warm water fishery. It is a renown smallmouth fishery, and even though that species is having a lot of problems in the river now, the fishing is still good. There are also plenty of catfish (channel and flathead), carp, walleye and musky.
