check craigslist, recently I seen 2 Jon's for not to much cash..I'm sure you can work out a deal for one of them. Although for 250 good luck getting a motor on it. If I have time I'll try and find it and post the link for you.

not a bad idea or pick up a cheap trolling motor to pop on it. looking at the Bass Pro catalog (only because it was sitting on my desk)  you can actually get a brand new one in that price range. A lot of options

Pretty much what Blue said.  I have been eyeballing jon boats for about 2 years.  You're likely not going to find much under $200 and give yourself budget for accessories.  $200-$250 is on the low end for 10'-12' without trailer or anything else thrown in.  Most are looking for $300+.  If you are looking trailer, boat and reliable (gas) motor, finding all for under $500 is going to be a challenge, but there are deals out there.  Electric trolling motors seem to be a pretty inexpensive item though, I've seen from $50-$150 pretty regularly.  You will need a new battery, costing you $75 or so though, and a charger if you don't have.  Then plan on adding an anchor, depth finder, rod holders, ect.  Keep track of the accessories that many offer, compared to having to buy seperately.

Craigslist is the way to go if you are in the Pgh area.  Pennswoods seems to have much better deals, if you are outside of town.  But they cover a lot of real estate.  A great deal + $60 in gas & 1/2 day driving to pick it up 150 miles away and back, might not be such a great deal when said and done.

Make sure that you are able to register it.  I'd get it notorized when you buy, which you pretty much need to do if it has a trailer.

Good luck & welcome to the board and level 2 of your fishing addiction...

There is two jon boats on Pennswood Classifieds for $200-250. Doesn't say anything about a trailer. What about a canoe? I have seen them for less than $200 and you really don't need a trailer if you have a full size truck.
