Gobbler Down
Very interesting morning.. I seen 11 gobblers and 4 hens.. My first spot I was with my bow, lots of gobbling but as soon as they hit the ground it came quiet. One did gobble fairly close but never came in range with the bow. I packed up and went to my second spot with the shotgun.. I made a locate call and heard one gobble from what I thought was my left side. I climbed up the biggest hill in the neighborhood and sat down at the top. Looked across the valley to notice the turkeys were on the other hillside lol. 2 gobbers and a hen. So I start calling and 2 more gobblers are over there on the right side . So I'm pretty ticked that I just climbed the biggest hill for no reason. So I'm sitting at the top of the hill calling seeing if these birds are going to fly across. Before I know it I hear a gobble right behind me about 10 yards on the powerline. I turn and see a jake just poking around. I'm not going to shoot a jake so I decided I was going to walk down and climb up the other hill. As soon as I stand up I noticed a big white head behind the jake. There was another gobbler with a hen standing there not making a noise. All I did was grab my gun and shoot. Never seen a turkey that dumb to be honest. But I'll take it..

Awesome man! Had a big guy at 60 yds this morning. Snuck up behind us and only gobbled when he got there. Gun in lap looking the other way. I was able to turn around and get a bead on him but he wouldn't come any closer!
Early to bed
Early to rise
Fish like hell
And make up lies!

Sounds like they are 'henned up' right off the roost.
Congrats on a great morning.
Kinda learned over time that when they hen up right away and you call a few times without going nuts they have you marked. Move a bit here and there to sound 'natural' but not much- When they get finished with what they are doing they will look you up. Unless more hens are closer to them.
Takes lotsa patience and some ZERO days but chasing sometimes busts birds that ya didnt know were around and silently going about their business that may well have marked you for later.
One mans way----
If they arent henned and are sounding off away from the roost- different game.

Another thing I noticed is that a hen was up on a tree branch and let me get about 15 yards away and never moved.. It was weird.. I just turned back and left and she was still sitting there
