give it a shot and then let us know how you did.

Duud...do you go out of your way to be a wanker, or is it just a natural thing?

citycop, I was going to chase some lakers this weekend, but I now have family obligations that have killed those plans.  If I make it out, I'll shoot you a PM and let you know how I did.

Put me on that "PM list" on how the lakers are doing.  I'll return the favor.  I think I'm going to go get the boat out of storage this weekend.

Yep.  My plan is to catch and release.  I'm going to keep one just so I can have an opinion on table fare.  Other than that it's perch and eyes for me.

If your gonna eat one, eat a small fish maybe 8lbs and under. The smaller the better.
The big fish are super old and chaulk full of carcinogens from bottom dwelling. ..

yea stick to eating the perch & eyes, only if your starving eat a laker, but I toss'em back.
Buddies been crushing the perch in the bay. A lot of 13-14 inchers, females of course. He did have a day where his limit were all makes from 9-11". But the guys I know have limited out every trip in bout 2 hours but a few days they had to sit.

What's the general way of fishing for lakers and and how deep do you need to go for them this time of year?

Run spoons right on the bottom, and sometimes suspended. The marks on your graph will tell you where to put those spoons. Fish around the northeast mountain. Sometimes they are on top of the mountain, sometimes they are inside or outside of it. I like to start with my riggers bouncing off the bottom and some dipsys about 10' off the bottom. It can change day to day so you need to experiment until you get a solid program together. I will be out the next few weekends. If you decide to give it a try shoot me a pm.

I was hoping to get out today for lakers but all my passengers cancelled on me. I'm definitely coming up next weekend after turkey hunting. I'm kind of new on here, so if anyone could pm me that would be great! I usually make it up a couple times for spring Lakers.

Does anyone ever do any good for them in the summer out deeper or are they hard to find?

Had my drag zinged plenty of times in a certain river that falls down a cliff aprox 180' in the early 90s ( Fall oct. nov ) . You could stand on a rock about the size of a house and straight down about 20 -30 feet of crystal clear water there would be hundreds of them. What a run down the rapids to a back swirl where you could turn them and work them into shore. When you would get a king on you were in for a real treat. Never kept a laker just a quick release and back upstream for more. I would say that is the the best adrenalin packed fishing I have ever done.

We got a few but we were not targeting them. We were specifically chasing steelhead and browns.

absolutely nothing, but I guess it's somewhat relevant because earlier in the thread they were talking about potentially keeping a laker.
