Smallmouth on the Yough.  Not chasing pelletheads with everyone else.  Elbow to elbow is not enjoyable to me at all.  Solitude is relaxing.

I fish a special regulation section of creek. Opening day is an event I like to be out and participate in, but without the overwhelming crowds. Good luck  and good fishing to all this season!

Not sure. Probably one of the lakes. I used to fish the streams but, I don't like the crowds in the streams.

Sleeping in, then off to a local stream in the afternoon once the crowds clear out.

The only thing I like about lakes better is that they are bigger and I know what you mean about them getting g crowded too, it seems like their is more room move around a little. I used to fish a stream in Somerset when I was a teenager that got very little pressure. I would do really well there. Last year we rode up there after fishing a lake and the crowds at that creek were ridiculous.

Took the weekend off work only to get bumped out of a fishin trip to Laurel Hill Creek. I can't say I really care, the weather is going to be crap Saturday. It'd be nice if I could find somewhere to go within an hour of the city that isn't elbow to elbow, but that ain't gunna happen now is it?

Twin on opening day, and I think sunday I will be trying keystone lake, I would like to go out on our kayaks. Do kayaks need to be registered/have a permit for use on keystone?
    Nevermind, found my answer!

Chromebandit412, you said that you were there when the stocked aber / turtle creek? Did they float stock it this year or just dump them in the big holes like last year?

That place is absolute zoo opening day and even the days following.  It's only 5 minutes from my house so I just go an fight the crowds.  Talked for a while with a guy that helped stock it last year and he said they float stocked it last year....have no clue what happened this year.  With all the rain I'm willing to bet many would have washed downstream some anyways.

EDIT*My response was in reference to the comment about float stocking Turtle.

My fiancee and I will be out at mingo... Just like kill3duck1deer said I've gone every year since I started trout fishing which was when I was 10... I am now 22 so its kind of tradition. My fiancee and I have been going for the past 5 years! It's close to home and I have never been anywhere else and knowing what mingo looks like i'm afraid to go anywhere else... We save meadow run, whites creek, yough, indian, and jacobs creek for may trips...
Kill3ducks1deer, have you seen the stream, we went out last weekend and walk the whole stream. We were very disappointed in the number places they stocked... Seems like they are not spreading them out as much as they use to.. I would of thought for them being stocked back in march they would of spread out a little... Most of the fish are in the well know spots... Hopefully with the rain we had the past two day we get some separation or else it's going to be super crowed!!!

I totally respect the tradition element of opening day.  If I had one growing up i'd probably be out there too.  But since i didn't, i will stay far away from the crowds.  Ive been fishing for steelbows and trout since september, so its just not a big thing to get our there tomorrow for some mostly smallish ones.   Ill be working then hittin up the 3 rivers in da burg somewhere.  But good luck to all yinz.  Ive seen a few lunker browns in area creeks and some yellow ones too!

Nbobich, the last time I saw the creek was sunday, I walked it also with my bro. Not a lot of trout and not spread out either, I guess they were hoping they would spread out over the month the could have but it seams like they didn't. My bro drove past the creek Thursday I think, he said it was up a little but still very fishable. I don't think it will be to bad for opening day, maybe up and green, but definitely fishable. The crowds are always pretty bad out there until the big ones are caught and then everyone leave, so I will be fishing a hole free of pali's and only one big one, hopefully a few less people.
