"Yough River" water level???

I don't quite understand why it is taking so long for the Yough river to drop. Is there a lot of water being let out of the dam in preperation for the spring rains, was there that much snow on the ground to cause so much run off???? Would someone please enlighten this old fisherman so that I understand what's going on?

I read somewhere that they are letting water of due to the storms we are supposed to get and the snow melt, not sure, but it does make sense. They also let water out of the dam ahead of time so when the Casselman is flowing high they can cut back on the release from the Yough dam so the water isn't dangerously high.

    Edited for spelling dam wrong

I live near the river in Smithton. I drove past today. Seen one guy standing in the water. Only out about 10 ft from shore. Seen one boat. Thought I would see more guys in boats. Didn't seem that bad for boats.

Didn't realize there was still a lot of snow up there. Thanks for all the input.

I went to Uniontown last Wednesday, and there was still a good bit of white showing on the mountain.
