Lake Ontario Browns from Shore

Can anyone give me some tips on fishing for Browns from shore?  I was looking  to fish anywhere from Oswego to Rochester.  I have heard that it can be good at any of the creek or bay mouths.  I was going to try around Sodus or Maxwell.  Any Reports? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Look for stained water and cast spoons

Cast spoons from any of the piers (have a looong handled net for some of them).
Cleos in orange- silver, blue- silver or green-silver.
Creek mouths can be good doing the same if the smelt or alwives are present.
1/4 to 1/3 ounce are good and 6 or 8 pound line.
First and last light are usually good bite a pod can move in any time.
mid April till mid May stands a good chance of hookups.

No boat, you are limited to spots from  shore, so the outlet pier, maybe some shore casting off Chimney Bluffs, Fairhaven State Park up by Wlcott, and Mawell creek mouth.
