Fish story and Pic I hope...1st time posting a pic
Hope this works if not I will try again. Wanted to share a pic of nice 16.5 lb male steelhead caught in Salmon River ,Ny in January. I planned a trip the week of my B-day spent a few days on foot wading the river alone and did well.I booked my B-day with favorite guide to float the river,my cousin meet me at the campsite the nite before and we floated 2/3 of the river. My cousin was hot in the morning hooking many more than me but I had some action while drinking my coffee.Around noon the thermos became empty I had lunch and switched to ylings,I rarly drink while fishing but it was my 40th b-day! I started catching up in the hooking up and landing numbers game(My cousin and I have a healthy competative way of fishing together)Towards the end of the trip we were anchored fishing a popular hole known for big fish. All 3 of us were talking about the fact that we were due for a BIGGEN".Sure enough I hooked this one at the end of my drift in the tail out of the hole.It took off and I had NO control of it,my guide pulled the anchor up and we quickly found out he had wrapped the line around a boulder(10lb mono)we nervously closed the distance and got the fish close and line off the boulder.A minute or so later we netted this nice fish. We took pics and released it back to the river where it belonged I hope a few other fisherman had the joy of fighting him. After a breif break I casted and had another strike I set the hook and lost everything from 1st eye out, the fish had trashed my line on that boulder and I was very lucky to land it.Sure I am bragging a bit but thought it would be a good time to share as I reflect on this past season and learn to post pics on here. Anyone else got a good fish story or pic from this season????

J-plugs...i remember when they were legitament "fishing" tackle for the Salmon River. I used to pick them up(just the bodies that floated)as I fished got about 3 doz of them strung up in the camper on a wire for decor. I am tempted to hit Temple tommorrow and take a few pics of the crowd, its a 10 minute drive form home base. The local law enforcement will have a good day writing tickets tommorrow for sure.

Thanks yall' it was my biggest this year and I had lost a few real good fish to the river that week so it was appreciated. That river is a gem when it comes to steelheading it does get a lot of pressure and the fish are wise.Captain Hook you nailed it when you hook afish in that river your fighting the fish and the current! As for the spot burn ya I figured a few of you would know it by the background but there really are no secrets on the Salmon River its kinda like posting a pic from Walnut Project waters in my mind. I did appreciate that you did not name the spot even though you know it,PAFISHER.

You're welcome workcanwait That is a nice one, even up there where there are some biguns. May I ask what you were using for bait/lure/fly,I fish with flies but am looking into a pin setup,I've seen that enough now to know I need to get one.I should state that there are times I pick up the noodle rod also.

Cmon guyz.....dont be a buzz kill. Let him have his moment. If he says it weighs that much then it weighs that much. If the bubba grip says so than it is. Not like any of you have a certified scale on hand at all times. Keep your comments to yourself if you dont have something nice to say. Krott , you cant tell me youve never had too many yuenglings.....Im just as guilty fisher , But the bubba grip said so. jimbo , = buzzkill ....nuff said

Yep...BLAH BLAH BLAH...not 16.5 Whatever man I saw the fish your looking at a pic man. It was every bit of 16.5 bubba grip or not.I had about 3-4 lings in me and I can handle twice that easily, and no I did not drive afterwards my couisin took care of that as a a bday jester. I have caught alot of steelhead and wouldn't bother saying it was 16.5 if it wasn't. It's not even near my biggest ... I knew sooner or later some Knucklehead would have to put up a negative reply. I am 6'1" and wearing many layers underneath a heavy jacket in picture look at the buldgeing belly and this was a male, not to mention it had not been handled before fish was flawless. Throw your biggest fish of the season up,come on man...................... The internet so helpful and so foolish all on the same site. I am not even surprised by you krott, theres one in every crowd.

How many yuenglings did the fish have? LOL. If you're 6'1" the fish is easlily 36" and with the big shoulders on that one 16.5 is definitely reasonable! L13
