i went there 3 summers ago, and caught 1 bass and some panfish in 2 days.  It was horrible.  Im sure that was the exception rather than the rule.

Yes and Yes.  I have caught largemouths to 9 lbs 12 oz on Stonewall.  I have had to person days well into the 100's.  It is a great prespawn lake for huge numbers and big fish.  Summertime brings very difficult fishing conditions as the fish tend to suspend in deep water but when you are on them, you can bang them out.  The fall thru winter picks back up when they put the feed bag on for winter.  Lots of cover coupled with no wake zones makes for excellent fishing in the coves.  Big and Little Skin Creek are excellent places to start you search.

Also has some decent crappies and some enormous muskies!

I've fished it about 4 times. I saw some great Muskies come out of there, but as far as bass, we caught a few but we didn't set the world on fire. Panfish galore though .. that's good eatin' in itself!

Many stumps and deadheads, be careful with the boat back in the coves but IMO, worth the trip. We liked Wolf Cove, 6 miles from the resort launch. We used to rent houseboats at the marina and tie the fishing boats off..... until they did away with them 2-3 years ago.

The campground sucks unless you have a motor home, not many accomodations for us rough campers. The resort is great if you decise to do that, they have quite a few sales if you sign up on their mailing list.

I did hear many stories about people getting their stuff ripped off while parked at the access, I have only used the resort marina and never had an issue.

The resort is only a few miles off of rt 79, and easy < 2 hour trip from lil' Washington.

Returned from stonewall water was between 42 and 48 caught 4 largemouth 1 spot. Best fish was 4.6 in 2 days, this lake is loaded with standing timber, would love to go back when water is warmer. Tryed tygart lake on way home today with not a bite. The resort at stonewall is nice but not very boat friendly no electric to charge batteries and no boats in the parking lot, dont understand why not to have an area for boats since it is lakefront.

I fished there!!   Lewis county West Virginia.  I remember it was supposed to be a good musky lake.  We trolled through the trees in the shallow water following creek channel.  Picked up small eyes.  And one monster Eye, That seemed to have a giant head.  Trolled with worm harnesses, split shot up about 3 feet really slow.  its been a long time but trolling threw those trees really sticks out to me, Just follow the channel.
