War Eagle and terminator spinnerbaits are my favorite brands. I also use booyah and strike king models, but they don't seem to be as durable. The war eagle screamin eagle probably the most effective spinnerbait I have come across yet. I personally wouldn't bother with weights much below 1/2 oz, maybe 3/8. The extra weight helps them run true, especially at very high or very slow speeds. When it comes to skirt color, straight white is almost always the best. A little chartreuse thrown into a white skirt helps if the water is dirty, and smallmouth seem to be especially attracted to it. Blades sizes from 3 to 5 seem to be the most effective most any given day. Silver blades throw off lost of flash in clear water, while gold or copper colored blades are more visible in muddy water. Most days, the extra bit of flash thrown off by double blades will make the lure look more attractive. A bass sees a spinnerbait as a school of baitfish, not a single large prey item. The above applies to spinnerbaits that you would use during that day. At night, a 3/8 to 1 oz spinnerbait, depending on how deep you want it to run, with a solid black skirt, and a single size 4-5 colorado blade will be most effective. You'll only want one blade at night because an extra one will counteract most of the vibrations thrown out by the larger blade. And, since the fish can't get a good look at the bait, vibration is extremely important.
