Beaver River

Anyone fishng the lower Beaver River?  I have not seen many posts on the boards.  I have a 14 ft, 25 hp prop and would like to know if I van safely navigate the river with that set up.  Would like to fish for bass.  What is the best launch to use?

Any pointers are appreciated.

There is also a PFC launch on the Beaver river in New Brighton. It is off Rt. 65 at 19th st.
This launch is closer to the dam. You should be aware that this entire lower section is basically a no-wake area and is shallow.

Lots of structure on the Beaver up around the New Brighton dam. You can only go from the Ohio mouth up to the 1st dam in New Brighton.  After that there is only one more launch on the river and it is above the 3rd dam and its private Eastvalle boat club members only. So boat fishing on the Beaver is basically limited, from the Ohio mouth maybe two miles or less up to the dam in New Brighton.  But it can be great fishing. You never know what you're gonna hook into. I've caught both bass species, stripers, white bass, sauger, saugeyes, walleys, bluegills, shad, channel, & flatheads cats, sheephead, perch ,crappie, carp, buffalos & quillback carpsuckers. I've seen pike & musky caught, lost a nice musky there a few years back. I even saw a guy catch a big trout once, there is a stocked streams that dump both into the Beaver & Ohio. I live two minuets away from the dam...

Keep On    If you are going to get within a 1000 yards of the dam on a boat you'll really have to keep a eye on the depth finder and in the water !!!! Lots of HUGE rocks out there. Don't get me wrong there is a channel up the middle to right side as your going up. You can even pull up to the big flat rock and fish from there and that can be great fishing, But you will have watch out for the shore fishermen throwing lures across at you!!!!!!!!!   Good and luck And BE REAL  careful   Dave
