Are all the launching docks in ?
What about the public dock by Linesville marina ?
Are the gates open on Fries Road and  at the camping site ?

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Not all docks are in. The causeway ramp and orchard were not in. They did open some gates, not sure if all, but I only see very little ice. The dock at wilson is in as so is the one at manning.

Just a friendly reminder!! Snagged fish must be released. Seen a lot of guys snaggin walleyes under the chain at the spillway on sonars, go right on the stringer.

Its that chain that seperates the lawful vrs. unlawful area to fish on the side where you see guys crowding to fish for the carp in the summer months.

Looking to get into some fish, would it be to early to hit Pymie? Looking for crappie and eyes. Don't really want to waste the gas if its early and not looking to snag 20 eyes and keep my limit just want to enjoy the day.

Whats the chain by the causeway?
It's a chain across the cement bathtub that is "supposed" to keep the anglers from snagging the eyes that all try to go upstream to spawn and congregate in said bathtub. It doesn't stop many of them.....

Re:Pymie Eyes 2013/04/04 13:44:13 (permalink)
Im considering renting a boat this weekend and trying for crappies and/or eyes. Ive fished pymy some from kayak and shore in late April and early May and have had moderate success in the past.

I feel that that water is still on the cool side right now ( just a guess), and the southern end of the lake's deeper humps would be my best bet. As opposed to trying Tuttle and the northern stumps...

Any comments or advice?
I would not have electronics on the boat, but im pretty good with a smartphone and some mapping apps i have...

Hit the causeway....the rocks warm up thus warming near by water. They are not shallow yet.

Anyone fish today. I thought about heading out today and I forgot to charge my batteries. They are on charge now and if it doesn't rain tomorrow I may make the trip up.

Well I chickened out again. The wind was strong down here so I figured it would be really bad on the lake. I only have a 16 footer and it doesn't take big waves very well. Good luck to all who fish today and be careful. Pymie can get dangerous.

Re:Pymie Eyes 2013/04/08 09:26:07 (permalink)
Most of the lake is upper 30's. Management lake was low 40's which would make the spillway slightly more than the rest of the lake. Jamestown was slightly higheras of last week but I haven't been down there to check in the last few day.

Had the boat out Friday evening and nothing fished from 4 till dark at the causeway (buddies wanted to jig only)... Weather is starting to get nice and should raise water temps quickly especially if we get the mid to upper 50's low 60's and raid like they're saying.

The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

I'm reminded of a situation many probably have encountered. If you snag a fish and it's highly likely that it will die soon as a result of the snagging, do you do the "right" thing [legally] and release it or the right thing [morally] and keep it for consumption? It's just a thought.
