Rain?? Snow?? Fish?

So my semi-annual trip is booked for the 20th. I lost a few of my spring crew because the fishing wasn't great last spring(when we came up at least). I have 3 first time steelheaders coming with me for this trip so I'm praying for some rain. Looks some some of the recent reports on here are pretty negative. The question is... What's up with the walnut gauge, looks like its near 600.... The brandy run on elk hasn't moved. Maybe some of you local guys can chime in with realistic fishing reports and weather conditions. I know I'm gonna catch feeeesh regardless of conditions, but what I really want is the new guys to have an awesome time.

Thanks Fellas

Crix are in great shape now. Alot of time between now and the 20th for them to change.

Eat those two on the stringer in your pic before you keep anymore.

Chrome is good if you do it right. Bleed them and ice them immediately. Then season them with lemon/pepper, seasalt and garlic, and butter. Wrap in foil and bake on the grill. Leave the skin on them. It's excellent. If you bread it and fry it, chrome tastes awful. Baked in the oven or on the grill, it tastes pretty good.

I used to keep 1-2 fish per trip. I take 3 trips a year, so 3-6 fish. Considering in a good year I release 10 times that amount, I'd say its ok to keep a few fish.

I agree. And that recipe is almost exactly what I do on the grill, except I add a little soy sauce. Not everyone is leading the crusade to release every single fish they catch. In the last 2 years I've released every fish I reel in.

Soy sauce huh? I might try that. If I make the trip, I keep my limit. Most of the time I keep one and give the rest to family members. They love it and look forward to my trips. It never gets freezer burned.
