Mammoth

As of this afternoon, lake was about 90% open,I would think that ice will be gone by Morn. Trout were hitting jigs well, not so good on spoons. Took another spill on the mud.Good thing there was no one else to see it at the time. Did scare the hale out of a walker who graciously offered to help.  lol  tough getting old!  sam

Hope all is well after the fall Sam. At our age it's tough rebounding from breaks and bruises. It'a been almost a year since I fell out at Greenlick and had to have surgery, my shoulder is still messed up. In fact I just had a shot of happy juice put into it today(steroids and pain killers).

Walt, Thanks for the concern.btw This past Sunday I took a ride to Greenlick & was disgusted to see that the Trash hopper was full with household trash including a mattress or 2 & that a tree had fallen across the road & looked like it was there for a while. Meanwhile other people were leaving trash lay alongside the hopper. I called Patty Miller from the Jacobs Creek Watershed Authority,She made a call to the Fayette Cnty parks division on Mon. & by Tues. they cleaned up the problem. I also asked her if they could possibly fix the light at the launch again, don't know if they did or not.It kills me to see the lowlifes trash such a pretty lake. Also I noticed that the PFBC sign was pulled out of the ground at the launch area. sam

Speaking of trash Sam....I spent a lot of time yesterday, wandering the banks of the drawn down Lower Twin, in the mud....sure there is a lot of terminal tackle around there, but the trash is a disgrace. Years of lighters, cans, a billion half buried bait containers....much of which must have been tossed off boats.....ignorance or arrogance,,,I don't know...

I get so angry when I go to the Westmoreland Co. Parks they usually are pretty trashy and I refuse to go near them around "Opening day" seeing as it's year round at them now.  The garbage is usually horrible and the worst part is 90% of the time's kids see it and just grow to throwing their trash at the lake shore like a maintenance  crew comes in every night and cleans up.   Anyways, aren't they to be bringing Donegal, Twin, Mammoth up to normal pools soon?

i think you can find a beer can from every year that the can has been in existence at the lower lake.  next time i go out i will make it a point to bring some trash bags and clean up some of that junk.

I am with everybody else here, I hate trash left behind.  Take out what you bring in!  Leave no trace!  Do not litter!  It sucks that not everyone follows these policies and ruins beautiful places for everyone else.  Anywhere I go, I always bring plastic grocery bags with me and clean up the area I am in and leave it better than when I got there.
