Erie trib ice for March 1-3

Hoping to fish Elk and 20 Mile this weekend from March 1-3. It sounds like there is some ice and slush on the tribs as of today. Anybody have a current status on the tribs as of today, Tuesday? Are the mild temps clearing things up at all. What are the chance there will be no open water this weekend with cold temps on the way?

Erie is getting rain and all tribs are on the rise.Unfortunately Thursday is the last day above freezing. So the ice will be gone but could return with nighttime temps in the teens.

I just got off of Elk around dark, the fishing was actually pretty good.  The portion of Elk below Uncle John's is ice free, but as adyak just pointed out, there are some pretty frigid temps forecasted for later in the week so don't be surprised if the ice starts building up again.

Deep freeze for the weekend starting Thursday night and going thru monday , temps down into the low 20's during the day and low teens at night

Might not be a good weekend to make the trip.......

I'm sure the tribs are wide open today, and should remain so through Friday night at least.  If you could change your trip to tomorrow and Friday, you'd probably find some great fishing.

Friday forecast looks like weather I'd fish in.  Saturday and Sunday not so much, but that's subjective.  Probably be some edge ice and plenty of slush if the forecast holds.  Fishing when temps are in the lower to mid 20's is just misery to me - I can stand the cold, I just don't like casting a frozen rope, and clearing ice off of everything every couple of drifts. Been there and done that - not real enjoyable to me.

If it was me, I'd postpone for a week or two.

Took a peak at 4 mile today after work and ice was not the issue, but rather high / rising water and very muddy.    Not exactly 20 mile but may save you some time.
