Lost one of the greats
It has taken me 2 weeks to even feel like writing this. My father passed away at the age of 49 two weeks ago. He was my fishing and hunting partner, taught me everything i know, and now at the age of 28 i do not have him anymore. My father loved everything about the outdoors. Last year i bought my first erie size boat so that i could take him out fishing, he knew how to catch them and where to find them, we had many trips planned for this year and i was so looking forward to the knowledge he was going to pass on. My fathers two favorite lakes were Erie and Pymatuning, he loved walleye, perch and crappie. I am probably going to ask alot of questions about Erie this year, and i ask you to have patience with me. I want to be able to show my 6 year old son all of the fun things that he showed me.

Chad I too lost my father at the very young age of 49. Although he didn't teach me to hunt and fish he taught me many , many other things I need to get through life. His passing left a large hole in my life and I still miss him. Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dad. I pray that God gives His blessings on you and your family. May your faith give you the strength to carry on. God Bless You.

So sorry to hear... these fellows who have already replied have it right. Time will help, but never ease the sense of loss completely, take comfort in knowing you can pass along what he taught you to your children and help keep him alive in their thoughts/memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during such a rough time. I hope you will find comfort in being able to enjoy and pass along all he taught you during the years you had to share.

Very sorry for your loss EYE, I also lost my father in 2010 @ the age of 49 :-(. My father passed away from bladder cancer that then spread throughout his body. Everything you mentioned about loving fishing and the outdoors was true for my dad as well. The best thing you can do is keep his memory alive and pass along the information to your children. Stay strong! and take care.
