Canonsburg
How the lake look? They just stocked it today, dont have any school and was thinking of going out. My only worry is that it has been pretty cold, but not really cold enough for ice fishing, I was just wondering if there was open water to fish.

No I didn't go, stayed home and slept instead. Didn't want to drive out there and meet ice on the lake.

Stopped by the lake 2-18-13, completely locked up up just enough to make the trip worthless. No open water and not thick enough to ice fish. They stocked around 1300 trout one guy said. So I went and fished the outflow, there were about 5 guys down there. I caught 1 small bass, didn't see anyone else catch much.

Well thanks for giving me a heads up, was planning on going Thursday, guess I will have to watch the weather and see if it warms up enough today and tomorrow for it to melt a little.

- Just disappointing the ice is so thin, but no openings whatsoever, shouldn't take long to melt though. Even the upper end by waterdam plaza where the creek comes in was solid ice. I hope it melts off for ya. I for one can't wait till the cold is gone.

I was going to take my kids there this weekend, guess we'll see what the weather holds. I've never been there. What is the best way to get there coming down on 79S?

Take 79 to bridgeville exit, when you come to the light follow to washington pike, at WP make a right follow until you come to Boyce Road, make a left onto Boyce and follow Boyce until you come to 19S. Make a right onto 19 South, follow until you see the lake on your right. Taking 79 to the Cburg exit may be faster but I never went that way, maybe someone else can chime in if you perfer going that way. Hopefully it melts off for you!

Why are you using Bridgeville exit ? Why not Cannonsburg exit, turn left up over the hill. That puts you on Rt 19 ,turn left watch for lake just after the Kmart light

Like I said ...never went that way.....I usually take 19S the whole way from mt. lebo... but you're right that way is faster that's why I asked for others input too.

There are better places to fish, the lake has changed so much over the years, alot of sediment build up making parts of the lake useless. It's good for stockies..there is a large population of crappie but the vast majority are undersized because the lake is over run with gizzard shad IMO, there is also a decent population of big bass. I fish it ocassionaly because it's close and it's just nice to get out.

When I use to fish there spent most of the time at what we use to call Cheese alley down by the D@@ but some trouble makers moved in and we moved on. Spent many days across 19 at #1 waterdam, but when the golf club bought it , it started to chance. There use to be some huge bass and crappies in there. Now when I'm able I spend most my time floating around Cross Creek but not as much as I'd like. Hoping they get Dutch Forks done so I can try to get a few days in down there just for old time sakes

Just a heads up, the lot at the top part of the dam is closed, at least it was when I went there, no idea why though. Edit for spelling mistake

Doesn't look like I'm going this weekend. I live near Bridgeville, so Boyce Road makes sense to me.

If you do stop, let us know if it's open or not, that would be much appreciated. Good Luck!
