Wilhelm Ice Report

I know Pymie is freezing up rather quick.  Was wondering if there was any safe ice on Wilhelm yet to fish the weekend?

    Had 3+" of hard, black, ice at 3 posts yesterday.
    I'll be checking again today @ lunch.

    Guys are fishin it...
    I had anywhere from 3.5"-5.25" out from launch #2...
    thickest was next to pressure cracks where it had froze, but it was also the only ice with any white to it...
    the main ice was all 3.5"-4.25" clear.
    Also checked next to creek road, at the new shore fishing access they made...it thinned the farther out I checked & I gave up at 3.25". 
    About 2" of snow on most of the ice, & it's putting it down out there now.
    *use caution* & check as you go...these were just my findings.

    Has anybody been out th check the ice at, or fish, the stumps?

    I hit slush in the stumps and only 3 inches of black ice under it.  Went to launch area #3 to find a solid 6 to 7 inches there.  Im not gonna give away all the hints but I slammed the fish there tonight.  Between 2 of us we banked nearly 50.  Mix of gills perch and small crappies.

    Anybody check it out today? Hoped to go out last night but I didn't get there till 6pm. Didn't feel safe going out on ice covered in about 2" of water. Didnt see a another soul fishing either. I checked it at launch 3 any 20' off the ramp looked to me about 2" white ice/slush and 2" black ice. Measurements are by no means exact, it was pretty dark out.

    With this weather being so warm and rain mixed, I dont see it lasting at all.  There might be some open water and ice here and there but no means safe to even fish.  If it melted nearly 2 inches yesterday, I'd hate to see it tomorrow after nearly a 60 degree day.  Dam shame.

    From what my buddy told me that lives over that way, the lake still has ice on it.  Really no open water from where he drove past.  Not sure of the thickness or not, but I figured I'd let everyone know!  Hope it gets thick enough with some of these colder days we are having to get back on it within the next 2 weeks!
