Minnow source near Lake Arthur

Assuming Lake Arthur freezes enough to allow ice fishing, I'd like to try for some crappie.  Is there a place to buy minnows near the Hwy 528 boat ramp?

Thanks in advance.

If you're coming from the direction of 422 you'll come to a place on the right side of 528, before you start down the hill toward the church and the bridge. I forget the name of it 'cause I always go to O'Donnell's on rt 19 just below 422, but it is well marked with signage.

Dont over look Appalachian trails bait shop. Just a few hundred yards east on 422 from 528. On the right  just past the giant chicken!

Not sure if the bait shop on 528 before the bridge is open in the winter. Two weeks ago it still had the chain up across the driveway.

I'm pretty certain that the baitshop on 528 closed permanently, last summer.

This is probably the closest.  It really depends where you are coming from, for most convenient though.  Who knows which ones have minnows at this time of the year.  Probably best to call first.

O'Donnell's as noted above.  Always seems to keep stocked & nice guy too.  Kind of a long trip from there to 528 area though, but not too far off of 79.

Roger's Rifle and Reel on Mt. Union.  Kind of a PIA to get from his shop to 528 Launch (probably the same time from O'Donnell's, but maybe 3-4 miles straight line...).  He is the closest by far to the North Shore spots.  North Shore Dr. stops at the marina, if it kept going, he would be the closest to 528 Launch.  Nice guy and keeps a good selection of wiper plugs at good prices.

There is a shop about a mile off of the 79, Slippery Rock exit, across from the Dairy Queen towards SR.  If you are coming from that direction and know the back roads, it isn't far to the 528 area.  Not sure of the name or Winter hours.  I have only seen the signs passing the place, and never stopped.

Used to be a place in Zelienople, but not sure if it is still open.  He was an older gent, about 10 years ago when I was last there.

Thanks folks.  That gives me an idea of what my options are.
I bet it will be easier to find the minnows than the crappie!

A bit late to the game I know, but appalachain trails on 422. is the place to go especially if your fishing near the launch on 528. Its really no more than 5 minutes away from there. Right now he's got flatheads and shiners. The hours (I think) are 8am to 5 or 6 pm. Was there just a few days ago and is the only place I go for bait if im fishing that lake.
