Tribs to Indian Creek

I was planning on going up around Indian Creek a few times over the next two weeks and was wondering what creeks seem to be best for wild trout. I do know what creeks have wild trout, and will do a little searching if I must, but if you were willing to share I would like to know what ones seem to be best, or at least have the most fish able areas. I will probably spend some time at Camp run, but there are a few around the area with wild rainbows and browns and I would love to catch a few of those. I don't really want a spot, it would just be nice if I could get pointed in the right direction. I just don't wont to drive all the way to the creek and find out the majority of it is posted.

Well it looks like I will try and fish Camp Run and Jones Mill the first time I go up, still looking for suggestion on my second trip though.

Get a map, take a look, try it out.  Either fish there or not you will know right away.

Also take a look on the map the fish commission has up on their site.

I have a map, looked at it and like I already said I was going to try Jones and Camp, their are a lot of different wild creeks up their and only asked to be pointed in the right direction for my second trip. I don't want to waste a day and gas to find out that the creek I had planned on fishing had very limited access and sucks. There is about 10 different creeks I am looking at for my second trip, I just wanted to narrow that list down.

The fish commission web page is a good place to start, plenty of wild trout info there. Most of the creeks in the area have small wild fish but some are better than others. Some fish to be caught still in the Laurel Hill DH.

I understand what you were asking for.  And your second sentence, I have done just that up there many, many a time.

I can tell you this though on almost every occasion it was worth it.

What tippecanoe said as well, lots of property is posted.

    good luck.

Then go fish your first trip.  At the end of the day, since you're already in the area, do a bit of exploring, you'll learn something that way.

Camp Run is a good place to start. Park by the Rt 381 bridge that goes over it, and start fishing upstream. The first mile or so is in Forbes St Forest. Or you can park in the lot off of Camp Run Rd, and hike up Mt Streams trail to the pedestrian bridge over the stream and start fishing upstream from there. I've done both.

I've also fished Indian Creek headwaters by parking off Skyview Dr, right off of 381, then hiking up Mt Streams trail, which parallels the creek. It's all in Forbes St Forest. Recent logging has made the first half mile or so of the stream difficult to access, which is where I had fished before. About a mile in, you'll come to where the gradient increases - lots of pools and falloffs.  I have yet to fish this stretch, where it diverges from Mt Streams trail, but plan to at some point. Hopefully this spring. There's a small path on the right of the stream as you go up in elevation. Just before that, there's a pedestrian bridge over Little Indian Creek, which comes off the mountain through pretty thick Mtn Laurel. Probably some native brookies in there as well.

Was hiking up there with my 8 year old son this autumn. Looked promising. Will try it out with my fly rod this spring hopefully. Let me know how you do. I usually take my son out throwing iron or bait in larger streams and lakes, but savor those days when I can get out alone with a fly rod, targeting natives.
