Weather guy is movin up in the world IMHO- first they said bout 8 inches then a foot- we got 6 to 8 which is close enough to be kinda right. Couldn't figure the black ice thingie- it was bout 13 degrees out in the afternoon and they said the night freeze of single digits would create a black ice condition and the roads could become dangerous-- aint 13 degrees already below freezing ?

Salt depresses the freezing point of water, but there are limitations as it gets colder, and in the teens, it stops working. Condensation on bare surfaces freezes, and voila, black ice. Why you see all the yuppie SUVer's in the ditches on very cold, clear road days, they did not pay attention in Chemistry class, and they have not learned that you spin out just as easily in 4 wheel as two, and the off roader's first rule, you don't drive in 4 wheel, because if you get stuck, you're stuck!

Spot on with the 4wd advice. Always get a kick outa those 2 wheel folks driving 60 on a snow covered highway when I'm in 4wd doing 45 to 50 like most folks and getting passed-frankly they scare he heck out me breezing past. Generally in those conditions I take the longer secondary routes at a slow speed-gotta do the 15 mile away nursing home visit every morning and evening so have to be out there no matter what-safety first. (freezing point is why the 13 thing impressed me lol)

Yes looks like another 4 inches from last night. Sometimes I prefer the one 2 foot event because at least I only gotta clean that up once.

It was looking like a break and temperature's over 32 on Saturday, but now the high is forecast to be 27. It is this incessant day after day of either cold and snow or supercold and snow. Supposed to be below zero again tonight.

I'd say we've picked up close to 2' in the past 10 days. On top of the 5' in thE beginning of last month... Plus scattered droppings in the middle of last month. Snow is really starting to pack. If we get a bomber on top of what's here they're probably gonna have to shut down the village for removal

Locally we have maybe 10" of snow on the ground, that sounds good compared to what you're saying Andy. But we got a coating last night and more coming Sunday/Monday.No matter what falls I gotta clean my approx. 9000 sq ft of driveway every time or I'm stuck here.A ROYAL PAIN IN THE RUMP!I'm now going out to tackle it.......AGAIN!

Yeah jack... I'm near thigh deep just a little behind my house. I imagine its deeper back in the brush and especially back in the woods. The last few storms have been heavier synoptic snow coupled with brighter sun... Its packing real good. The plows were out yesterday two tiering the snow banks. A bomber will cripple most folks/areas who have little space to put the snow.

And looky looky at the weather forecast... 6 of the next 8 days are snow. Gonna be a classic late winter around here. Once the lower end opens back up it will be like a few old time years I can remember with every storm line trapped in time and broadcasted on the wind blown banks... Let's hope the fish will be there!!!

Not liking this white s...t at all. We got another 2" last night with about 16" total on ground plus some monster drifts. Sure puts a damper on the big lake waters getting to trout territory . I registered the atv thinking I might take it out there this weekend but now having thoughts of just putting snowshoers on and fishing a small local puddle for pannies instead. I don't feel like having to deal with getting stuck with the atv .. Going to be a game day decision , we shall see.
More s..t expected sun- tues . Ugh

The reports for snow are all over the place here. Some are saying 8-12" and others are saying 4-6". I'm hoping for less of the latter. This measly 12" is making the ice fishing difficult .

Weatherman is all over the place on totals. Anywhere from 6 inches to a foot. I am ready. Dad's plow conked out this morning, but luckily it was just a bad ground and it is fixed. Got everything done. Barn clean, roof shoveled banks pushed back.. Let's go................

Guess we are lucky here - about 3 inches so far but still coming down. Getting plowed out in Richland/Pulaski for a Sat arrival- neighbor who plows said a couple of feet or more on the ground there- plus whatever falls till then..

Since Thursday night till tonight I would say a foot also. We did not get the lake effect Friday. We were supposed to get a foot from Sunday afternoon till now and I would say 6 inches at best. Syracuse got a foot or a bit more in the last 30 hours

Just got done plowing after getting home late due to this BS overtime . Don't know the total ( still snowing) but it seems between 10-12" on the ground from 3pm yesterday till now. We gotta be in the 20" range in my yard . I always push way back but I'm starting to run out of room as the banks are deep and high. Now that the lakes are a mess, I'm ready for spring

Thats pretty big time rj!! This winter is as steady as one could be. I walked through any area last night I had plowed about 3 weeks ago and it was between knee to thigh deep. I'm gonna take a venture back in the "old 13" woods one day soon to see how deep this "snow pack" is really getting... In in and around village of Pulaski there are banks that are getting near or at the bottom of street signs. They have started their second round of removal in the past few days
