Light rain here in CT on a snowless ground. Has been well below freezing for days and this light wet stuff is causing ICE . As I listen out the back door there are sirens from several directions. Roads must be terrible. Gonna be in the mid 40s later in the day with thunderstorms. Better than snow IMHO.

Roads are finally about clear around here for one of the first times in about 3 weeks... Trev, heard its pretty nasty down south with the freezing rain. Above freezing temps with frozen ground surface is the worst

First day off in 7 days so I am beat, had a few close calls at work that drained me. It is windy and cold, but not horrible. Wish I could of got out over the weekend. My ice gear is coming together, but I think I will just rest today. Possibly go out tomorrow after work for a few hours. Need to change oil in car today and do a quick other few things........

Yeah man... As much of a freeze up we had the past few weeks, folks need to remember how wet and drenched the ground got just before the freeze up... Have fun clint. I'm sure your judgement and knowledge will always keep you safe...

Now that's what drives me NUTS.. Stupid does as stupid is.. Lake George just froze over(totally) last week (mid week) and ppl are already asking if it's safe for ATV's or sleds.. UGH !! Yea I love ice fishing but drowning due to hypothermia seems like the WORST way to go !! I fish skinny ice but I carry a spud bar and test pressure ridges or new ice, especially on big waters.. Stay safe and stay away from nit wits..

I was on Oneida Saturday and it was 8 inches of black ice. Sunday degraded some of the shore areas I heard. Fishing was VERY SLOW! LOL Not a great season so far as far as the bite goes down around here....

Absolutely Clint . Getting out there is what it's about for me, ya never know. We are looking at sub zero temps again starting tonight and there is no snow on ground to speak of. The Great Lake George has been giving up some huge lake trout and a salmon to some friends. I am going there to see if I get skunked sat

It is hovering right around 0 right now.. Broke my auger so I will borrow a friends tomorrow. Wanted a new one anyway. I had a cheap 8'' one and even with sharp blades it was a chore to drill holes. Going with 4 or 5 inch as I do almost all perch. Stop at****tomorrow to see what they got and if nothing will order from here I think.

Good day today, got alt done outside. Chimney cleaned and cars washed. Went down to the farm and heard the cows bellering, just thought they were hungry. Made it down just in time to see her pop the calf out and start cleaning it.

I haven't been to sandy pond but I've traveled through areas of sandy creek and the snow isn't that deep west of 81. More so east of 81 it gets deeper. Clint congrats on the new calf!!! Where's the beef?

Roads were at their worst last night... Freezing drizzle followed by light snow. Horrible is an understatement! I got a big kick out of the guys fishing the town pool while slush was floating through it for most of the day. They were also standing out on the very thin shelf ice. Some folks should just stay home man. Let's see... Casting in to water that immediately makes my Line ice up and float... While standing on 2-3inches of shelf ice over 4' of ice cold water...gladly no one took a bath, but come on people!!!

Yup. We raised 2 castrated hogs... Hanging weight was 188 and 192. 185 is the target. Definitely doing 2 more come sprig time. May even do more depending on demand from friends and family. We are gonna do 40 meat birds and a few turkeys. We have 10 laying hens as well. I like knowing where our food comes from as I know you are the same way clint. Gonna work towards growing corn and grain as well as other vegetables in the future so we're not relying on the GMO/ pesticide grown fed from the feed mills clint

Those trades are a good neighborly thing to do. I help friends with pigs and beefers, chickens and meat sheep. They keep me in good stuff.... It was a beautiful day to climb a mountain. I'll take cobalt skies everyday and any day.

Barter system is a great thing to do in many cases. We do the pigs come middle may once they're weaned off of their mother. The meat chickens are great too as they are nice plump birds in 8-10 weeks.
Looks like it was a nice hike charlie!

It looks like I'll be on the western edge of the strike zone for the pending nor'easter headed up the Atlantic seaboard. I'm praying all in harms way make it through this storm with little hardship. I can deal with the projected 20-30" of snow as long as the power stays on. If it doesn't its going to be a rough couple of days without water and heat. Stay safe everyone.
