We were up for the last 2 days.  Could feel it going up yesterday, and feets got very cold when wading from all the melt.  Definitely gave what few fish are in the river the zippermouth.  Likely done with the SR for 2016 (unless there is a good warm spell!)

This weather is dreary to me, kinda like mud season. Both of which I like the least .
I have pics of a frozen adk muskie lake from Saturday, obviously the temp and rain kicked it's azz. My focus is only to waddle through the mud doing chores until the weather turns for the better, not snowy. I have been ice fishing as long as I can remember in the Month of December except 2015 in which I was in my Jon boat on December 24 wearing a tee shirt and 72degs.

So here is hoping to go out with tight lines and fishy smelling hands in 2016 .
Right now this weather STINKS !!

Rain , snow hovering around freezing, nothing really going on. Supposed to be another "event" at the end of the week. To add to the Thanksgiving bad ju ju, it was not my blower plugging as much as it was my auger gear stripped, The repair is almost as much as a used unit, but at least I know what I have

I see single digits on my adk lakes this week. One last chance out at deer camp this weekend then I'm pretty confident I will be walking on water before Christmas.
With the vacation after Christmas, I could be standing in some too.

Aside from the snow blows problems blues, I hope the weather has been ok for everyone.
Ps. I hate this phone :(

I think I might hang out in the Pharoah Lake Wilderness this weekend, I bet some of the smaller ponds will have an inch or better. I'll take pics.  Good luck to those hunting.  Looking at the river, maybe end of next week. We'll see.

We will stay below freezing for the first time at the end of the week. Don't see ice any time soon though. River continues to be high. Supposed to get another bout of LE staring Friday. Hopefully bad luck des not follow like the last.

Just got the snowblower back to the tune of $600, over half of the price of a new one. Good news is its all new from the motor forward. Snow is supposed to start Thursday night now. Persistent bands up to three feet. Here is hoping it stays a little more to the north and up on the hill. I am ready for it this time though.......

Yikes !! That's what I mean about my dislike of snow . It gets expensive !!
I'd rather spend my money on ice , lol.
Hope things don't get to bad and you weather well up there.
The artic blast is coming and I just seen a larger waterbody closer to me ( 90 mins away) that was locked today.
Yea it's coming :)

Send that cold weather my way will ya HT. Clint can keep the snow.

I got a 42" wide thrower ahead of my WheelHorse but I don't care if I ever start that machine.

I also have a compact that will run a 6' 3ph blower but I'd have to pick all the 2b limestone from my driverway, out of the neighbors pasture.

With the WheelHorse I just gather the gravel out of my yard.

Good luck with getting that hardwater.

I looked on the map, it's small and off the marked trails  The nearest shelter is cool and the trail in from Putnam is a good one.  Has  2  paddles with portages in between if you wanted to canoe it.  If we can get to it, we'll try.  Was heading in that direction anyway.   Hope you don't get that whole mess, Clint- long winter to go, yet.

I go in from crane and row across then hike up the outlet. It's a jewel; ) and the South ledge is one of the noted areas research is done on bats.
You can get there from the long trail at putts from that side or hike around crane from the other . I was told there was a problem with the outfall and the pond is no more. I was curious as its been 4 years since I been there but wish to return this spring .
If you are going in from putts, there are many beautiful ponds over there on the trail system but they do get used often due to the access and proximity of the campground.
Pharaoh is and has been one of my favorite areas to venture in the spring before the camping / hiking season kicks in.

If you go , you will enjoy

Charlie, I think your right and I have become lazy since I've owned the Daisy.
The thoughts are weighing heavy for 2017 . Bank stomping or bushwackin ain't so bad ..
My last trip to pharaoh area 3 years ago involved ice , friends ,fish and a friendly forest ranger on swiss skis .
Good luck on yours

We  circled around the valley that pond is in, but didn't bushwhack. A bit chilly and slippery, and not a soul out there in almost 10 miles of trails walked. We didn't camp as I had to work Sat.  Not many tracks, either.  Ice was around 3" with open water only on the in/outlets flowing.  Might need snowshoes today.  We got about 4" at home, seems to have turned to drizzle.

Good deal Charlie !! Is that putts ? Do you know if there was access to drive to the launch ? We are going out with traps on Saturday and it one of 4 spots we have on our list of places . Not that we ever catch anything there though

RJ, no it's Crab. We went in from the end of Alder Meadow, and walked down Crane Pond Road  to the trails as it was icy as hell. It's a 16 mile RT from Putts to Crane.  I would guess you could park at the entrance to the campground at the very least.  I wonder if they plow down to the hiker parking right before the launch? The pics are a beaver dam we had to cross at the head of Glidden Marsh (we luckily didn't break through!)  and the really nice shelter on Oxshoe pond. Let's talk about a trip out there in the Spring.  All the info I can find on the net, says they plow into the lot near the launch. Scenic place, even if the fishing ain't good. Hope you go and prove that wrong.

Ice yes.... snow no, shoveling sucks I'll be happy to be cutting grass. Shoveled 4 times yesterday and one time today. Heavy wet snow during the night made for some tuff work on the WheelHorse this morning but we got-r-done.

Tight lines and Merry Christmas

Accumulation wise this was not a bad storm with 4 to 6 in my drive, about the same for cuse. What caused it to not accumulate was that the band was quick moving after it left Jeffersonian Lewis county. This am it literally followed me to work. Took 2 hours for a usually 40minute drive. This pm Syracuse was getting hit good and when that happens the whole city goes into gridlock.  Took an hour and 20 minutes to make a usual 15 minute drive out of the city and then another hour home even though the snow ended in Brewerton. Although bad, the roads and visibility was nowhere near what I would consider really bad.  North of Pulaski I am sure they got much more, but honestly it only matters what I have to pile up and deal with.
