Charlie don't feel so bad... I live minutes from various tribs and you've probably spent more time on the tribs than me in the past two years!!! Lol. Have a great new years hike and enjoy your peace and solitude... And you're right, as much as a pain it is working in the rain, it's very rewarding to see the results step by step on drainage projects. I was having such an issue that even when it didn't rain for days there would always be water seeving out of the base of this little decline of a hill just above my animal pens... not anymore though :)

I wanted to go today and tomorrow, but the river above 2k and Oswego rising too, I will stick to HS b ball. I did get the barn mucked out today. The other day I found a yearling bull had gotten his foot caught in the only place in the barn it could. Not looking good for the guy as a nasty wound a by the looks of it a busted leg. Gave him a shot on penicillin today. He is walking around and eating, but not weight at all on the leg. Lets hope for the best.

32 degrees in my little piece of Penn's Woods with freezing rain advisories but the weather dude says, the temperature is to increase into the forties overnight. Raining coming in bands, sometimes showers and other times downpours, with the wind out of the South at 20 MPH gusting to 35 and that dam Cherry Tree still hasn't fallen. All the criks and rivers in my area are 'blown out' and the lakes, even if ya can find a place out of the wind, are getting high and muddy.

No fishing today for me it was prep time for the snow that's a coming. Cleaned out the garage so the wife can get her car in and out of the weather. Was up on a ladder hanging up the yaks and it brought some bad pain to my foot. Glad I didn't get out fishing it was the first time doing something like that all the walking has been on flat land. Not looking good for walking on rocks at this time. Back to just reading about fishing which will have to do for the time. Good luck to everyone who gets out. Be safe with the way the rivers are on the rise and the threat of all the freezing rain.

Did I mention the wind it is HOWLING. Last night there were gusts that made the house creak so that's up around 50mph. It's still going pretty good. Went out to do some chores and it's rough out there. If I was not going to go to some b ball this afternoon I would think about up north. SR is at 2k, that's a bit high in my book.

Got till the 31st with black powder and have been passing hoping for another Buck. Been warm, cloudy and wet and breezy for weeks with only VERY occasional sun. Been kind of too confident in my in-line being hunter friendly and dependable for wet weather and haven't changed the load in quite a while. Did so- for the heck of it- yesterday and out came a heap of black mud where powder shoulda been. Glad Bucky hadn't come through on his scrape line lately- lol. Took my oldest grandson with me last evening and nothing showed - of course. At one point he turned and said he'd like to shoot a bird where we were sitting-a joke of course. On the ride home he explained he was getting sick of hearing the darned woodpecker pounding away right in front of us for 3 hours- lol. GRANDPA had NEVER heard the bird. Getting old gracefully is some kinda BS story.

Kinda cool you guys get a bunch of time for Big Game . Not really sure how your seasons go but in NY southern zone - Archery season oct -1 through third sat in Nov. then it's Big Bang time for 3 weeks , back to archery - smoke pole for 2 weeks = over by second weekend in December . Given this season, it was over before it started = to warm . 1 deer between 11 available tags on our 876 acre mountain . Glad your getting the youngin out there . Alas when my 30 year run on that property is over so is my hunting . All things will switch to water instead of woods . Remember , pop - pop, " we don't catch no fish because you always forget worms " NOT this year !!!
Weather - Drive to the JOB was nasty !!! 45 min ride took 1:10 mins = Late Shoulda expected as much with first winter weather of the season . Cars in ditches & 15 mph ridding the brakes , ugh.. I hate snow !!!!

I'm having the back problems as well. shooting pain where the lat meets the spine, takes about 1/2 day of casting for it to start. I took about half the gear out of the vest, and that helped. I have been concentrating on using less whole arm, but that is transferring stress to the rotator cuff. Best thing has been doing stretches before I start, but I don't always remember. I hate gyms, but I think I'll be going to the Y and working out on weight machines to attempt to improve my back, or switching back to bottom bouncing sacks.

I bought a lumbar back brace and that helps some what,I tried to lesson the load in my vest but that turned into "what if I need this, that.or whatever" so I still have the same load. The answer would be astep back in time to a younger me,but I don't have that answer. The only thing that is golden with the "golden years" is the color of your pee.

We're making ice now................... Beaver crik is frozen over and there is a light dusting of snow laying on the ice. Of course it's just "skim ice" and unfortunately, to be short lived. Weather Channel clowns are forecasting mid 40s by the middle of next week with light wind so it's, back to the boat for a few more days. I say beaver crik cause the heavy rains washed out the dam and now 'Mr. Beaver' and, BTDT have lost their pond. Not to worry, we all know how industrious those little critters are so I am sure, 'Mrs. Beaver' has the repair project at the top of her 'honeydew' list. Wishing all, tight lines and, filled creels in the new year.

Clint I'm sure it would've been more, just that the ground was saturated. Friday night over in a-town it was a solid 8 inches. Ground seems to be freezing up a little more now. I'm looking out my window right now at a dark grey mass over the lake. I think a good one is gonna come sweeping through tonight. Seems like whenever the temp got below freezing the past few days is when the heavier squalls came through... down to single digits tonight... I'm guessing white out... be safe in your travels for anyone visiting the area. I've seen a lot of nonsensical cars off the road since friday

If ya can rely on the Weather Channel clowns, future radar showing a band of snow starting across Lake Ontario dropping due south while spreading out to Lake Erie and eventually bringing snow to my area by 4:30 PM this evening. Not a wide band but we all know, a slow moving swath of lake effect can pile up the snow in a hurry. Temperatures will be back to the mid forties for me by midweek. Guess I'm just gonna have to get the Fish Hawk outta bed a couple more times before spring.

Well it's starting up by me now intermittently. Radar shows darker blue just to the north, but it's coming off the lake more so than earlier now. Btdt, I do see the blob over the lake on the radar.

Keep as much muup there as yinz like, I just need enough for a light coating to go chase Bambi's daddy tomorrow. Awww crap, I'm getting some of the stupid white stuff now and when I went to check the radar this pops-up. Issued by The National Weather ServicePittsburgh, PA12:25pm EST, Sun Jan 3 ... LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM EST MONDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM EST MONDAY. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... 2 TO 4 INCHES... LOCALLY UP TO 5 INCHES IN WESTERN MERCER COUNTY * SNOW BEGINNING... VERY LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP BETWEEN 1 AND 3 PM. * PERIOD OF MOST INTENSE SNOW... 2 AM TO 7 AM MONDAY IN A VERY HEAVY BAND THAT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE EAST TO WEST THROUGH THE AREA. SNOW SQUALLS ARE LIKELY. * SNOW ENDING... 9 TO 11 AM MONDAY. * IMPACTS... SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE RAPIDLY WHERE LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS PERSIST. VISIBILITY WILL BE SHARPLY REDUCED. * WINDS... NORTHWEST BECOMING NORTH 10 TO 15 MPH OVERNIGHT. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE-EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING. I was going to make the drive Friday but there is a chance for freezing rain so I will drive Wed. because it's supposed to be Sunny!

Well -- mid Jan. and here in Ct in the 40s- only half inch of snow so far this winter and gonna be wet and mid 50s tomorrow. Snow lasted a morning a few weeks back. Some skim ice here and there in the past few cold nights but only VERY thin. Deer were as fat as they get with a banner ( best in my life) mast crop.. Likely very little winter kill for most game this year. Whatever winter we get the game will go into it in fantastic shape. Hope fish in Ontario fare as well.
