It's actually illegal in NY. Tip ups are considered ice fishing gear and only allowed on ice

BTDT, I agree... It's a planer board and a great picture ... Thanks for sharing
Just one of those dummy regs in NY and I know someone who got busted for putting a tip-up on a wheelbarrow inner tube ;(
Hope you got a whopper !!!

Seems the cool weather may start here tomorrow..
We need to tighten things up pretty quick fast if I have any chance of making this a 2015 into 16 ice season ..Doubt its gonna happen so the yak might jump in the back of the truck again this weekend while the madhouse shopping goes on out on the streets ..
Be Well folks !!!

I sure ain't winterizing the Fish Hawk, not after seeing the NOAA prediction for Jan. & Feb.  Ain't looking good for hard-water or precip.

I don't know that use of a tip-up  errrr....  planer board like this is legal in PA. as one must be capable of immediate control of their fishing equipment at all times.  I'm surprised I wasn't nailed while trying to get a picture.

Leave it to me just being me, and getting busted, trying to create smiles while longing for hard water.

Merry Christmas to all yinz all.

Jack , I hate snow too but like ice. A mild winter as it's been so far is OK with me . The queen of lakes ( lake George) is looking like 2012 with non fishable on ice , again that's a bummer but OK. If the smaller laker lake Schroon, freezes and will allow me to target lakers I will be a happy jigger.
My only fear now is a blowout of a spring on the mighty Hudson not allowing me to fish stripers 😓

Well the lake effect machine may hit me or may not. Could be 2 inches could be 2 feet.  Hope it stays away, I got to get tires on my car in the am and the ones on it now are BALD.

Bald is bad , snow or rain , there is no traction.
Wife's car has tread and passed inspection but they said she " should " get new tires.
Me I'd run them till next fall but she is boss and we are going tire shopping tomorrow also

This thing put me in the ditch last year so I did nurse another year out of them.  The guy inspecting the car said the same. They barely pass, but should be replaced. It is time. Walk mart had the best prices here.

Well the amount of about 6 inches or the visibility was not bad this am, but the attempted drive was. I only got a mile and the azz end had let loose twice. Turned around and came back home, not worth it.  I will drive the truck. Time to try again tomorrow. I only like going in the morning as it really cuts the waiting time down

well success on the tires went back up at 1300 to see the nephews bball game and the sun was shining. stopped by wall mart and they said I would be next in line so I had them do it.  After reviewing on line I picked Tiger paw touring by uniroyle.  So far I am quite impressed with the handling  in the snow. There is a little road noise the ride is not super super smooth, but the tread and compound account for that. Overall if they perform like this I am happy at around 100$ a tire installed.

Cool deal Clint !!
I'm not a Wally World fan but it makes no difference in this world today. Most everything is CHINA.
We stopped at the local garage for 4 sneakers on wife's car. 8 beans later all is good with Firestones , still , imports, ugh...
Seen some photos from the lake machine.. Keep that stuff up there, bring the cold ice down here into the adks!!!
Safe travels

Keep that snow up north.  I'm enjoying this spring like late fall almost winter weather.

Good luck with those tires Clint.  I presently have Michelin's on my Yukon XL and I'm very pleased with how they ride and handle.  I spent the money on them after having taken a chance on a set of Cooper Starfires that replaced the original factory set.  The Cooper's were crap not lasting 25,000 miles.  You get what you pay for.

well we got less than a foot from this and it increases exponentially to the north and east. I have not been to Pulaski or Altmar but they got over a foot and the tug got all of three. With the warm weather  this week and the res being full there is going to be some bigger water. They are running 1500 now. They are messing around again as anything over 1650 is not profitable and wasted in the overflow tubes.

We didn't even get a flurry, just a bunch of wind and sunny but it made for a nasty day to be outside. My thoughts are , give me freezing cold so I can Ice fish or mid 50's or above so I can be comfortable being outside. Yesterday's and today's weather does nothing for me .
Unrelated, there was a open house seminar about ice fishing at a pretty infamous tackle shop on Lake George. One of the presenter Rich Ortiz is not only an avid fisherman but also an excellent musician . I mean excellent , he opened for Lukas Nelson last month and is a local regular on the scene.
Here is the link to the seminars in video if you choose to watch and get some tips on various ice fishing. Rich covered trout & salmon.
Enjoy your day folks

I still have not used my gift card from here yet. Santa is bringing me The -12 ice jacket bought from this site after the recommends from the previous thread. I had been wanting a heavier waterproof  fishing jacket so I am stoked. Will fill triple duty on the boat in the river and on the ice (I hope)

That's cool Clint, I have a feeling Santa did some shopping here for me as well;)
As for the Jacket, don't expect it to be a stand alone jacket for the ice on really cold days. It has a liner but not a big heavy one , you will need to wear a hoodie or sweater underneath which is exactly what I wanted. I hate having something so heavy that you sweat your Azz off while dragging gear out then freeze once you get there.
If it's nasty, snowing or blowing I will wear the jacket minus the hoodie then put hoodie on once I'm set up or vice versa if it's not bad out .
It will also be a great stand alone wading or boating jacket .
You'll like it !!!
Alas , I'm DONE Xmas shopping 🍻

That's exactly what I wanted Rich. A versatile jacket I can use most of the year. I really did not have an in between.

Big zero here , your my hero :)
Happy Christmas present
With weather hitting near 70 tomorrow I wanted to get on the pannie lake , winds near 20 mph is not looked good though.
Sat dipping to 50 deg with 3 mph winds is sounding much better

Standing by to take a whooping with 20-30 MPH winds and heavy local down pours here in my piece of Penn's Woods.  Geez that last blast brought area streams and criks up by as much as two feet.  Still got pud muddles sitting in the yard but, I didn't have shovel the stuff and that's a good thing in my book.
