That would be great  , but I heard  (and was hoping ) they were more interested in the Parish school, but may have been turned off due to the increased taxes in Parish than Altmar.
They make incubators,   for growing medical grade cells for medical testing.

Well, this is coming back to what Clint told us what seems like months ago.
For insurance purposes they might not like trespassers, but they might not be too concerned about along the river. They also would be willing to sell the bank rights to the state to recoup some of their purchase price, I would think.  If it happens, start the letter writing campaign!!!!!!!!!
I can't see a better scenario for all- decent, relatively clean industry with jobs and tax revenue and the river still with access. Win, win, win.
Maybe a similar thing will happen to the Parish school, Clint.

Either way it's a tax base in our district so all is good whoever pays the taxes.

Funny thing happened while at work Tuesday.
Another full-time local guide confirmed it was sold.
But, he said by someone other than the labratory folks.
Wont go into anything else said, as I can't confirm 100% personally.

As usual, some are finding the fishing slooow, some are finding it ok while other's incredible.
Im normally finding fish in all the Winter and Tran.  places. Can't complain. Its been good for my guest's.
Some freshies from Pinevile to fly zone just showed up. Also mid to lower has them.
Nice to see that bright stuff again!
Im back doing fishing reports, etc... every week to few days on my site, if intrested. :)
Thought I'd give you guys a "well deserved break" from my Ramblings for awhile :)

Thanks, Randy. I was waffling on a suicide run this Sat. to  the mid-River.  Now I'll go.  Worth a shot at a half-freshie

I was also planning a quick trip but there is new fluid on the driveway, and I don't think 110 miles each way is a good idea until I get it checked.  13 year old trucks can put a damper on fishing plans!
But thanks for the reports, Randy.  It is always good to know what we are missing.

Got MLKday off and was gonna go up but with a high of 15 or so around here I think the parking lot pool at I creek will have to do.
Half hour fishing half hour warming back up.

Re:altmar school 2013/01/21 18:45:42 (permalink)
Went over to the I Creek playground on Saturday.  A few gents centerpinning and spinning, one or two other flyguys, a large number of non-angling hikers.  Nothing in the Parking lot or under Washington Street. Straight up and down is half filled in with gravel (could be interesting up there when the water warms up and they start to spawn, once the suckers are in and the chrome is done (wink, wink)).  Three fish working the bendway weirs in the Horseshoe, and two fresh redds down there as well (water temperature must have come way up, or late Cohos mixed in with the steel last week).  First trip to 441 in a long time, the old hole is filled right in, but some nice new ones on the other side.  Two guys had that all tied up.  Got a 10" stream trout under 441, first salmonid of 2013! Nice hike, pretty water, definitely beat doing laundary all day!  Water was ~125 cfs, too low and way too clear for a lot of steel to be coming up on it.  Next rain and thaw, I'll have to get out while the water is still 200-400, but it is staying light enough in the PM to get over for an hour or so after work.

Here is the skinny, right from a school board members mouth per my dad.

The PARISH school was sold to the Biosphere folks.   They are just waiting to cross the T's and dot the I's.
The Altmar school has some interested folks that are also looked at and inquired  at the other property around it also.   No confirmation on who the party is , but that Genesee group has popped up again in the rumor mill.

Re:altmar school 2013/02/04 07:09:16 (permalink)
The Mad River Club leases land on the Tug Hill, and recently the main landowner sold their property to a group with a Scotsville NY address.  The Wehle family formerly owned Genesee and they are centered around the Scottsville area.   They own a good deal of the land abutting Oatka Creek, and have a long history with sporting pursuits.  Total speculation, but maybe there is a connection.  The Barclay family owns a lot of the property adjacent to the Scottsville tract up on the hill, so perhaps the aristocrats have been conversing.  The Genesee Brewery was bought by the employees a while back, and then by a brewery concern out of Brooklyn in the recent past, and is on or may have been sold from the market again recently.  But if there was any completed sale of the school, you should be able to get that information from the real property office in the town of the property, or at the county seat, as it is public information.

Both sides of the creek for a long stretch up on the trail, and at least one farm on the north side of the trail.  And the Museum of course and all the property around it south of Limerock.   When they still owned the brewery, at least some of the employees had access.  But as big a chunk as they have, out there, because they also have large holdings around Scottsville and in Chili, I don't think it rivals "the Big Valley" along 13 between Port Ontario and Pulaski!

Any local info ??? If not I'll be up in bout  3 weeks and might make it a mission to collect local rumors lol. The one bout the Firemans lot downtown kinda died- maybee we can bring that back up-  more lol.

Gonna be one heck of a tax bill if they fill the school with beds.
How big a bar can that place support year round with Altmar Hotel and Two ****s right up the road.
It may just be the dark side just thinks its dark because of where they have their heads stuck.

400k seems pretty light for something of that nature. Fran betters was asking 750 for the "new" shop and it ain't much of an upgrade from the old. Actually it is a downgrade, no river access.
It's still for sale 2 years later.

Well that's my sr .02

I don't really think it matters much to me, because the public easements exist on the other side of the river, which I always thought fished better as well.

Surprised theres no hype going on with this thread... apparently there was a town meeting in which a proposed footprint of what the altmar elementary may be was given out... the for sale sign is still up though... i didnt attend the meeting but i did hold a copy of the footprint that a friend had obtained... i feel weird being the first to blow it up on the interwebs though... so let the suspense begin :)
