Fish Comm new mentor program

http://www.outdoornews.co...out-program-for-youth/

Pretty cool, great for the kids. Just hope some selfish parent just use this as an excuse to rope some fish. It needs to be about the kids. I hope they have some streams on there, not just lakes.....

I really love the idea, but I do think it should be C & r so there won't be those adults taking advantage.  It is meant for the kids to get into the sport of fishing.  There will be those bad nuts, but overall I think it will all work out and hopefully continue.

What's the difference between this and just taking your kid fishing?  Avoiding the crowds?

GOOD IDEA You would be amazed by the looks of some adults when you see a younger lad catching more fish than them.  Its kinda cool how excited they(kids) get when they catch em....

Im sure jonny law will be on this-- when assisting young lads.  The rules are clear.

I really dont see how this gets more kids into fishing. Almost everyone I know, takes their sons or daughters opening day as it is. Earlier in the year tends to be worse weather conditions.I dont quite see the logic....WF

I Guess some may see it as an increase in opportunity.  Like you said, same people will take their children anyway on the first day.  However, how many of those parents leave their kids to feast for themselves... I see it allot.  I know its not the intent of the program, but the mentor program would maybe allow the youth the best opportunity to catch a fish and get hooked...maybe.
