Exotic non native cathces
As some of you know I am a staff member for the PAOJ monthly magazine. I write mostly fishing articles and am interested in doing one on non native invasive species and the dangers of releasing pets into the wild and the damage they can have on our local ecosystems. With that said, if anyone has any real pictures of strange catches. Pirahna, Pacu, snakeheads, giant goldfish(LOL) etc.. Please shoot me a PM and I can give you my e-mail. I think it would make for a very interesting article and I really do want to use actual photos and not just search the intrernet. A buddy of mine just found a 4 four python in the woods while deer hunting, it shouldnt last much longer with the cold. Thanks JEB !

I hope your buddy either whacked the python or captured it... Most exotic non native invasive species I've caught was a used condom on the Clarion river. I'll have to look to see if I have a pic... I hope you get some cool stuff, it does sound like interesting reading...
Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.

Good Luck on your endeavors JEB! I'm sure you could write an entire magazine or book on the subject and as bulldog 1 wrote, it does sound interesting. Definitely something that I would read.

I was with a friend when he caught an 18" brown trout out of a 30" storm water pipe in Shaler/Etna next to the burger King. We were after suckers/chubs for catfish bait.

Being a previous snake owner/breeder, it drives me nuts to see reports of a python in the woods. Not that difficult to say free to good home, just like a dog or cat. So ignorant. As far as fishing goes, hasn't there been all kinds of rumors of piranha in Edinboro Lake? Any pics of those around?

There was a picture of a piranha caught at presque isle in the erie paper at one point. One of the Park Rangers I knew has his picture with it. You might want to give the park office a call.

Probly not what your looking for, but meets your "exotic, non-native species" criteria. I've caught tons of Steelhead.

I saw a goldfish in the one lake by my house. Just out of curiosity, what did you catch it on?

As an after thought JEB, why don't you inform all of us on this site that you wrote the article and if known, what issue it's coming out in. I know many of the members would love to read it.

Nymph i caught a palimino out of that same drainage pipe years ago...believe it or not when we were kids we used to swim/crawl thru that pipe from the waterfall side down to the bridge side...we were absolute morons back then...
